(3rd Pov)

Once he enters his home, he sees Shay and Rachel sitting on the couch. His parents were on the other couch, sitting in silence. When they heard the door open, they turned their attention to Y/n and noticed the few scratches and dirt on his clothes.

Shay: Woah, you're not hurt are you?

Y/n: Just some bruises. I'll live.

Rachel: You sure? It may be adrenaline from fighting... monsters... that sounds weird to say when I know it's literal.

Y/n: Hopefully you won't have to say it again. Where's Lily?

Rachel: Blake's watching her in another room.

His siblings looked like they wanted to say more, but Y/n raised his hand to stop them before turning to his parents who have been staring at him in silence.

Y/n:... Did you like the burger?

And silence fell over all of them as they only blinked at his question.

Marlin: Uh... yeah, it was good.

Y/n: Cool, there's a burger joint west of here. I usually go there when I want a burger.

Marlin: Uh, okay?

Y/n nods before speaking again.

Y/n:... I don't see why I should bother forgiving you.

His siblings reeled in surprise by the quick statement. His parents had gained stony expressions and kept silent. Y/n continued.

Y/n: I've been thinking back.. you two weren't always there even before the incident. You've been busy with work, which I won't ever fault you for. You did so to provide for your family. However, I remember it would be Shay and Rachel doing some of the big stuff while I would keep to myself and make sure to keep an eye on Lily. Then after the incident, you stopped paying the bills, and I won't bother asking why, so I got a job and started living genuinely on my own. Putting it simply, I don't need you guys anymore.

If they felt hurt by the last comment, they didn't show it and instead kept their composure. However, Shay and Rachel were beyond shocked by their brother's words. He notices their shocked looks and shrugs. Then his father speaks.

Marlin:... There really isn't much either of us can say to that. So you won't forgive us, okay. I speak for both me and my wife when I say we can accept that. But for future reference you shouldn't go around saying something like that so straightforwardly. Also I should say that by hearing you can take care of yourself, does that mean it's okay for you to find a new place?

This was the first Y/n had seen that glare on his father's face, even his mother was glaring at him slightly. Y/n inwardly smiled at the indirect threat before grabbing his phone and dialing a number.

???: Hello?

Y/n: Hey, it's time.

???: Alright, just pass me over.

Y/n then gently throws his phone over to the seat next to his father. Y/n gestures to it. Marlin raised a brow as he went to pick it up.

Marlin: Hello... Alex Soto?... You wish to buy the house!?

He glanced up to his younger son who had his hands in his pockets and stared right back at Marlin with a neutral stare but he could almost see the smugness on his face. Rachel and Shay both equally thought the same thing while also thinking how much shock they can take after hearing what their father heard over the phone. Marlin listens to Mr. Soto for a few minutes while nodding and speaking a few confirmations. After a while, Mr. Soto hangs up and Marlin returns the phone. Y/n grabs it without ever looking away from the slightly pained look in Marlin's eyes.
