Alive Again (A Vampire Eddie Fic)

Chapter 12

Suddenly it all made sense to him; his D&D campaign, this other dimension shit... it was punishment. Everyone was right, it really was a demonic game, and Eddie was finally being punished by God himself.

"So he's back?" Steve spoke, breaking the heavy silence in the room. Everybody kept their eyes to the floor. Steve sighed and leaned forward, putting his head into his hands. "Great... this is just great,"

"Not all hope is lost yet though, right?" Dustin projected his voice to make himself heard. Will and Steve looked at him, shaking their heads. Eddie took a breath.

"No..." Eddie replied. "No, not all hope is lost just yet... but it's quickly running dry. I knew it since the second I woke up that something was different, I just..." Eddie trailed off, seemingly lost in his own mind. 

"You have a connection to him now," Will said, nearly whispering. Everybody's attention went to him. "Just like me, you can tell when he's near or what he's thinking, which would be very useful if it didn't also go vice versa. Anything we do, everything that we are, benefits him and his knowledge... we are nothing but spies for him now."

"So what do we do now?" Eddie asked. "How do we fix this?" Will shrugged.

"I don't think we can."

Dustin took hold of the rope that connected the gates in Eddie's trailer. He had begun to feel a little bit better, but in all honesty he just wanted to leave. Everything about the Upside Down made him uneasy, now including Eddie, as much as he didn't want to admit it. 

Steve noticed the change in Dustin's mood as he stared through the portal.

"Hey," Steve put a hand on Dustin's shoulder. "Are you ok?" Dustin started to nod his head, but it slowly changed to shaking as a pained smile came across his face.

"Are you kidding?" Dustin asked with a chuckle. "Of course not! The entire world is in danger again, we're the only ones who can stop this alternate dimension God, and now my best friend is a fucking vampire! So no, Steve, I'm not ok..." 

Steve looked down, not really sure what other answer he was expecting. 

"I'll see you on the other side," Dustin said as he jumped up to climb the rope. Steve and everyone else soon followed, leaving Eddie alone once more.
