Sonadow: Night Falls

Chapter Nine

Dark Gaia rose up and stared down the Gaia Colossus. It grew more arms, spattering green blood as they emerged from its body. Eyes opened on the sides of its head while a giant one appeared in its mouth. The purple energy poured over the earth as this happened. Sonic stared at the creature, anger rising within him. The Chaos Emeralds came to him from the temples forming the Colossus's body and circled him.

"Let's do it!" Sonic curled up as the emeralds circled him and he transformed into Super Sonic. He flew right in between Dark Gaia and Light Gaia, ready to help any way he could.

"Get him Sonic!" Shadow called out, gaining a radiant smile.

"All right! Time for the big finish!" The moment Sonic rushed forward, he cried out in pain. Shadow heard this and called to him. "Sonic, is everything all right?!"

"I'm. . .nghh. . . fine!" Sonic cried.

Not now! Sonic thought. Please not now! Pain shot through his lower half and he knew he wouldn't be able to hold on much longer. He tried again, but he stopped short and grabbed his stomach.

"Oh Chaos!" Shadow cried out, finally understanding what was causing Sonic so much pain. "He's giving birth! Chip!" Chip had heard what Shadow said.

"Sonic! Stop!" Chip cried out. "You're going into labor! You can't fight!" Sonic didn't move. He gritted his teeth and grimaced in pain, but stared down the monster before him, his amber eyes blazing like a fire. He raced toward Dark Gaia noticing that the creature had brought up a shield.

"I gotta take out this shield!" Sonic was utterly startled when Chip decided to help and opened the shield enough for him to get through and face Dark Gaia.

"I'll get its attention, Sonic! You do something about this shield!" Chip said.

"Right!" Sonic replied, looking around nervously. He was still in pain and it was only getting worse.

"Are you crazy, Chip!" Shadow growled. "Sonic is in labor and you're going to let him fight?!" Chip responded, "He's a strong hedgehog, Shadow. Get a hold of yourself and let him do this. I can no longer defeat Dark Gaia on my own! I need his help whether you like it or not!" Shadow looked at the golden hedgehog.

"Sonic. . ."

Sonic began hitting the snake things sticking out of the shield, noticing that those were the weak spots. Sonic was feeling the pain in his lower body grow every second through every movement he made.

C'mon, not yet. Just hold on a little longer. . .

After hitting the snakes creating the shield, it faded away.

"Yes!" Sonic shouted. "The shield's gone! Augh!" Sonic grabbed his belly again and his eyes went wide, his pupils shrinking as he let out another scream.

"Chip! You need to help him!" Shadow cried out. "I think his water just broke!" Chip turned, but Dark Gaia grabbed him, seeing his guard was down.

"Sonic!" Chip cried out. Sonic shook himself of the pain.

"Hang on, Chip! I'll be right there!" He raced toward the monster and hit its hands to make him let go of Chip. "Eat this!" Dark Gaia fired an energy blast at Chip, who blocked it and delivered an uppercut punch.

"Here's Sonic!" The golden hedgehog shouted and headed toward Dark Gaia, hitting it straight in the eye and impaling him through the back of its head. He floated above the scene, watching the monster's reaction. Dark Gaia spilled green blood and fell into the burning pit of lava from which it had come. But as it did, it grabbed Sonic.

Sonic screamed as he was being dragged toward the lava, and suddenly, he couldn't take his own pain anymore and cried out, knowing that he was powerless to even try to escape.
