Derek Shepherd
I smile as I walk into my empty dark house. I have a date with Meredith Grey. I walk into my kitchen and get some Scotch out pouring myself a glass. I toss it back before pouring myself another glass. My first date in three years. I never imagined of going on another date after my Adeline passed away she was it for me but Meredith is different she caught my eye and I can't stop watching her. Meredith is a natural beauty she is beautiful everywhere. I love just watching her and admiring her every move.
I admire the way her hair falls on her shoulders. The way she blushes when I smile at her. The way she walks, her smile, her eyes everything. Adeline was beautiful as well but she always felt the need to always wear lots and lots of makeup. I would always tell her she was beautiful and she didn't need it but she wanted it to feel beautiful which I respected.
Her hair was platinum blonde and her eyes were so so blue, they were so light. She wasn't as small as Meredith she had a little more but that doesn't matter because Adeline was a beauty and I loved her but Meredith is so much and she is such a sight to look at.
Adeline liked her fancy expensive clothes that I would always buy for her because I would do anything for her. Meredith wears the same jeans and sweater or her coat.
Adeline could get snappy and rude and not want to be around people, Meredith is so kind and loves hanging out with her friends.
This is bad.
Comparing my wife who has passed and the woman I have a date with is bad. Comparing, I shouldn't be comparing them but here I am standing here and comparing them. Meredith is so much different and I have definitely noticed she is so much different I thought I had a type because I dated people like Adeline before Adeline but Meredith is nothing like them.
This thing with Meredith might not even last but I am getting back out there that's all that matters.
"Derek dear" I hear.
"Ma what are you doing here?" I ask.
"I left calls and messages, that you never responded to" she frowns.
"Sorry I have, been busy" I say setting my glass down.
"You always reach out when you are busy these past two weeks you well you disappeared" she says.
"Well, there's a girl" I say.
"A girl?" she asks smiling slightly.
"I'm not going to name names or how we met or what she does but I have a date with her on Friday" I say.
"Oh Derek that is great" she smiles.
"Don't make it a big deal it might not work out that's why I am not telling you anything about her" I say.
"Fine but if there is a second date I want a first name, third date last name, fourth date what she does for a living and if it goes on just give me small details about her" she smiles softly at me rubbing my shoulder.
"Deal" I smile at her kissing her head.
"Well it's late so Im staying in your guest bedroom" she sighs.
"You act like you didn't live there for like a year" I sigh.
"I was the only one that could stop the severe nightmares" she sighs.
"I know" I sigh.
"Get some rest Derek it's late" she says.
"Goodnight Ma" I say.
I smile as I drift off to sleep.
