Derek Shepherd

It's Friday night and I'm nervous. I'm excited so excited but I have a stupid voice telling me that I shouldn't go that it's betraying Adeline. I am going to go anyway I'm going to ignore that voice because it's just fear and me being anxious about this date. I am really happy because of this date. I'm proud of myself for being able to ask her out and for even going out in general. This is a new chapter of my life and I'm happy to being starting it off with a woman like Meredith, but yet again scared.

Now I am just waiting for her at the back of the club.

I tap my foot and adjust myself nervously. "Shepherd, you're dressed up" Mark says walking up to me.

"I have a date" I say looking up at the clock it read 7:54.

"A date with who Shep?" he asks curiously.

"Uh, Meredith Grey" I whisper looking down at my fingers.

"Meredith? like the woman who works here?" he asks.

"Yes" I nod.

"She said yes to you?" he asks like it was unbelievable.

"Yes, she did is there a problem with it?" I ask.

"No no they just hate you" he says.

"Who?" I frown.

"The women who work here" he rolls his eyes.

"Why?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"Well the fact that they don't even know what you look like because you don't acknowledge them is a one reason" he says.

"Oh, I'll get better at that then" I say.

"Actually?" he asks.

"Well, depending on how this date turns out" I say when I see Meredith.

"She's here" he says.

"No shit, get out of here will you" I say and he chuckles walking away.

I smile as Meredith walks up to me. "Hi" she says softly as I admire her.

"Hey" I say.

"I didn't dress up nice since you said causal" she says.

"What you are wearing is perfect" I say putting my hand out and she takes it.

I lead her to my car and open the door for her. "You have a nice car" she complements me.

"Thank you" I chuckle.

"So where are we going?" she asks.

"That is for me to know and for you to find out" I say.

"Oh come on, please tell me" she begs.

"No, it's a secret" I say as I glance over at here and she's looking at me with a pouty face.

"I never liked secrets you know" she says crossing her arms slumping in her spot.

"I'll keep that in mind for the next date, but for today, it's a secret" I say.

"Next date?" she cocks her head with a soft smile on her face.

"I mean- If you want to go on another date" I say nervously, fuck.

"One date at a time but yes I will go on a second date with you Derek" she smiles and I sigh in relief.

"Anyways I hope you like the outdoors" I chuckle.

"Why?" she asks.

"Because our date is outside" I say as I start driving in a long gravel driveway.

"You're not trying to kill me are you?" she asks.

"Well then there wouldn't be a second date would there" I say and she shrugs in agreement.

"Are we almost there?" she asks.

"Just about" I nod as we pull up to my land.

I park and get out then go over to the other side to help her out of the car. "Is this your house?" she asks amazed.

"Yeah but that's not the point" I chuckle.

"Where are we going then?" she frowns as we pass my house.

"Here" I grin as I bring her to an opening. It's a clear view of the city and I set up a picnic type thing with blankets candles plenty of food under a type of tent just in case it starts to rain plus I can add sides to it.

"Derek it's beautiful" she smiles.

"You think?" I ask.

"Yeah" she nods.

"I tried" I chuckle.

"It's perfect" she grins walking to it and I smile and follow her.

"So how should we start this thing?" I ask.

"How about normal questions like favorite colors and keep going from there" she suggests.

"I like that idea" I grin.

"So, what is your favorite color?" she asks.

"Blue, not light blue, indigo, yours?" I say.

"Lavender has always been my favorite" she smiles.

"How about siblings?" I ask.

"I have two half sisters" she says.

"I have four sisters, I count Mark as my brother we grew up together" I say.

"What have your past relationships been like?" she asks.

"I uh- she- we-" I start to breath heavily I put my hands on my neck I can't breath I never talk about her at all.

"Hey hey it's okay Derek Derek come here Derek" Meredith holds me in her arms brushing my hair out of my face.

To think the date was going well.
