3 : Winter test

I have been working with Hannah for two days now. To tell the truth I've just been following her to different meetings and doing some tasks.

It's not very interesting but I understand that being new I couldn't handle a big prize on the first day.

I am dropped off in front of my huge building and happily enter it. After this long day I can only dream of a good shower.

After taking my shower. I receive a notification from my best friend.

Morane: How are you doing sis? How is your new dream life going. Did you get to meet the handsome Max or did you get to see Pierre again? Say hello to him for me, it's been a long time since we've spoken.

As I read these lines, I felt very silly. I had completely forgotten about Pierre who was part of Alpha Tauri and who had been my best friend during my childhood. We gradually forgot about each other by the time he was welcomed into the team.

At that time I was very jealous of him. Indeed my very first dream was to become a pilot. But even after winning the W series twice, I never got my seat in F1. It was when Pierre got his seat that I realised that the F1 world would never give a woman the opportunity to become a driver in F1.

So I stopped and started to focus on my studies as a strategist. One of the few jobs in F1 where we can find women. So being busy we both just stopped talking to each other.

Me: I'm fine. No, I haven't seen any drivers yet, but don't worry, I'll be sure to mention you when I meet them.

I smile at my screen and decide to send a little message to Pierre to let him know that we'll see him at the winter test and go to bed.

I've been working for Red Bull for a week now. Hannah had helped me a lot so that I would be as comfortable as possible with the others. She introduced me to both drivers so that my work was not only based on statistics but also on personality. Perez was my favourite rider of the pair and meeting him only confirmed my choice.

He integrated me into the team very quickly and helped me a lot to manage Max's personality. Indeed Max had a very explosive personality which made him very unpredictable. This made me quite anxious for all the strategic choices I made for him.

Today was the first winter test. I was getting ready in my hotel room before leaving for the circuit with the other members of the paddock. When I arrived I couldn't stop smiling.

My dream is right in front of me!

Hannah taps me on the shoulder and smiles.

Hannah: You'll get used to it. She laughs and starts to leave.

Me: I think I'll never get used to it. I speak as I run to catch up with her.

Hannah: By the way, did you bring a change of clothes?

Me: No why, I should have.

Hannah: I don't know, I'm just saying that. She laughed, which didn't reassure me at all.

As a newcomer I have to expect everything....

A little further on I see the Ferrari team heading towards their paddock. At the sight of the Ferrari team I remember Carlos, maybe we'll run into each other.

This thought both terrifies me and makes me happy. Indeed I want to see him again but at the same time he will understand that I lied to him, his reaction terrifies me. Luckily for me, the drivers arrive a little later.
