I got in the door and my mum was waiting in the kitchen with the biggest smirk on her face.
Juliette "What are you smirking at?"
Mum "Just happy to see you, how was your day then? I want to hear everything!"
I gave my mum a full detailed explanation of how my day went, told her about all the nice people I met and how I got home. At this point her smile was scarily large, I was worried her mouth might fall off.
Mum "Oh Jules I'm so happy your day was good, it sounded like the perfect first day, and you even went out with some new friends!"
Juliette "Yeah I guess it was a pretty great day, I'm more excited for tomorrow because I have art and luckily my friend Nick is in there"
Mum "That's brilliant honey! Well, I'm going to be in my office for a while if you need anything. I plated up some dinner for you, it's in the oven so it stayed warm."
Juliette "Thanks, I'm gonna take it up to my room, I want to tell Josh about my day and ask Kol about his"
Mum "Kol went out skating with some boys he met today, I'm assuming he won't be back for a while"
Juliette "Oh that's okay, glad to know he made some friends too! I'll get him to fill me in later then"
I brought my food upstairs and sat on my bed and put on an episode of The Cufboys Show while I was eating.
When I was finished I called Josh but he didn't pick up, I forgot about the time difference and knowing him he's probably sleeping already. I left him a voicemail letting him know why I called, hopefully he rings me back tomorrow, I miss speaking to him.
I took out my ipad and decided to continue my sketches for my portfolio. I'm hoping this gets me in the teachers good books, I can't handle another bad teacher that's for sure.
After about thirty minutes of drawing my phone started buzzing like crazy. I picked it up and noticed that I'd been added to the group chat Mikayla was talking about at dinner. We texted for a while but then I put my phone on do not disturb and got back to my work.
I heard the stairs creaking which followed with a knock on my door. Of course he didn't actually wait for me to say come in but at least I can't 'shout at him for not knocking'. Kol sat on the edge of my bed and showed me some videos he'd taken of him skating with his new friends.
Kol "How was your first day then?"
Juliette "It was actually really good, I made some friends and got McDonalds with some of them after so I would say pretty successful overall. Yours?"
Kol "Pretty good too. I saw some guys skating at dinner and asked if I could join them and now we're friends"
Juliette "That's great to hear!"
Kol "I'm glad you met some people as well. I was gonna ask if you wanted to watch a film or something but I have quite a lot of homework to do"
Juliette "That's okay, I've got some work to do before tomorrow anyways, but if you want you can do your work in here?"
Kol "Yeah sure, I'll go get my stuff"
My brother and I sat together and did our work. I really love how close we are, he's the only sibling I have so it would suck if we didn't get along. I'm just so glad that he hasn't grown up and decided that he's too cool to hang out with his older sister so much.
When he finished his maths homework he asked me to go over it seems as though I'm reasonably good at maths. After I checked it and made sure it was all correct he left my room to go to sleep.
I checked my phone briefly before I went to bed myself and replied to the group chat.
The Boys
Alahna: Guys are you all free this Saturday? Aidan's having a back to school party and I really wanna go but definitely not going alone
Mikayla: I'm in!
Chloe: YES OMG! I made sure to book it off work when he first mentioned it over summer lmao
Alahna: Haha now that is smart Chlo
Nick: Ohhh yeahhh can't wait!!
Tayla: Do you know what time it's at? I have some things to do on Saturday
Alahna: I think I remember him saying it was gonna start around 8
Chloe: Yeah it's 8, I just checked with him
Tayla: Oh yeah that gives me loads of time to get ready after I'm done running errands, count me in
Alahna: Ahhhhh this is gonna be so fun! Has anyone heard from Jules?
Nick: I think she said she was with her brother but haven't spoken to her in a few hours
Alahna: She'll reply at some point no worries. Nick, do you want me to pick you up on the way?
Nick: Yes please!
Before I replied I checked to make sure I wasn't scheduled to work and luckily I wasn't. I'm so excited, oh my god, going to this party is going to be so fun. I didn't really go to many parties back home, me and my friends just had small parties together. This party is going to be a great way to meet new people!
Juliette: Sorryyyy only just saw this!! My phone was on do not disturb haha. I'd love to go!!
Alahna: Amazing! I'll pick you with Nick?
Juliette: Yeah that'd be a big help, I'll walk to Nicks so it's easier for you
Alahna: Ahhhh thank you so much
Juliette: No problem!
I tried getting to sleep for a while but I just couldn't. So I went downstairs and got a snack from the kitchen.
I didn't realise my dad was awake as well but I turned around and he was standing there.
Juliette "Oh my god dad!! You scared me"
Dad "Haha sorry kiddo, I was just making the most of the quiet in this house to get the last of my presentation done"
Juliette "Presentation?"
Dad "Yeah, I'm presenting my first big idea at the end of the week in the staff meeting. I thought I'd get it done early so I'm not as stressed through the rest of the week"
Juliette "That's a pretty good idea. Can I see it?"
Dad "There's still some things I need to edit and rethink but you can look and give some feedback if you really want to"
He showed me his presentation and I made some comments that he made a note of and said he would work on tomorrow at the office.
He's hoping this presentation goes down well with his boss because it'll help him get a higher reputation.
My dad has many ideas and he wants to be able to share them all with the company but he's going to have to earn a better title before his coworkers start taking him seriously. I have high hopes for his presentation, I'd definitely watch the film he's presenting.
I sat and finished the rest of my snack with my dad and then decided to head up to bed because it was getting quite late and I was finally starting to feel tired.
Juliette "Okay, I'm leaving now, goodnight dad"
Dad "Goodnight Jules" He peered up from behind his laptop and smiled at me.
