It has been a few weeks since Zooey has been home, she has started to settle into being back. She hasn't really seen Y/N since the night she came home. She didn't like how he was so cold to her but she knew she deserved it. Especially after what she did to him. She hated herself for hurting the most sweetest and caring man she had ever known. When she was walking through the village, she saw an old friend of hers.

"Oh my god  it can't be." Tiffany exclaimed. "Zooey Kern!" She pulled Zooey into a hug as Zooey just chuckled at her. "It's so good to see you."

"It's good to see you too Tiffany." Zooey smiled at her old friend. Who then pulled her to the nearest coffee shop. They both ordered drinks and caught up with each other. Zooey had learned that Tiffany was recently married to Dave, Y/N's colleague. As Zooey also told her about her road trip to Kansas with Ben and her relationship with Matt.

"That bastard. He didn't deserve you if he could do that." Tiffany fumed as Zooey just nodded along knowing that she does deserve it. But thanks to Y/N no one knew about it other than her parents.

As they were still talking, Zooey's attention ended up out of the window and across the  square as she saw Y/N talking closely with another woman. She recognised her to be Melanie Sanders, one of her friends from high school. Her chest tightened when she saw them kiss.

"Trust me. They won't last." Tiffany spoke breaking Zooey's trance.

"How so?" Zooey asked ger as she looked to her friend before her.

"He doesn't seem to be with someone more than three maybe four months tops. Not since you guys divorced." She informed her. Zooey was slightly hopeful to win back the trust of the only man she had ever loved so effortlessly and she will do whatever she can to do so.

Once she had finished catching up with Tiffany, she decided that she needed to also look for a job since she quit her last one when she walked away from Matt.

With the help of her mother, she managed to land a nursing job at the local doctor's office. It wasn't what she liked to do but it is a job non the less.

As she worked there, she saw multiple of her and Y/N's old friends, it wasn't until she saw his brother walk inside for a check up.

"Hey Jack." She smiled at him which he returned to be polite.

"I didn't know you were back." He told her as he got up on the bed and lifted his sleeve up.

"Yeah, I wanted to come home you know." She told him as she got his shot ready.

"Of course." He said as she stuck the needle in his arm.

"I know you don't like me." She started as he cut her off as he held the cotton to the small cut.

"No I don't like you. You hurt my brother and he was nothing but good to you. He loves you and you ruin it by breaking his heart." He said once he started to his jacket on. "He only ever wanted what was best for you and he even told everyone that you both just wanted different things so no one hated on you." He seethed. "He never wanted to drag your name through the mud." He finished as he walked out of the room.

She knew that he was right in hating her. Everyone should hate her but she wanted to know why Y/N didn't want them to know so she made it her goal to do so.

She decided to track him down, remembering his routine from when they were married. She found him walking through the park and approached him.

"Why didn't you tell anyone?" She asked as she walked beside him. He just gave her a blank look. "Why didn't you tell anyone the reason why we divorced?"

"Because as much as you broke my heart I didn't want everyone to hate you. A lot of the people here are your friends and I would not drag your name through the mud. That isn't me." He told her as she just nodded. "You never told me why you did it." He stated as she shook her head.

"I was scared. It felt so real between us and I got scared." She whispered shamefully.

"The two of us being married didn't signal that it was real between us." He stated as she just looked away from him. She was ashamed of herself.

"I'm sorry Y/N." She whispered as he just laughed and shook his head at her.

"You fucked him on our sofa and your here for what? Forgiveness?" He whispered as he made sure that no one heard him. "Well guess what? I don't forgive you for it so please do us both a favour. Leave me alone." He told her as he walked away. It hurt him to say those words but she needed to hear them. She needed to know that he will not forgive her. Not yet anyway. He isn't ready to. Maybe one day he will consider being a friend for her but not right now.
