Time Is Limited (Zooey Kern x M!Reader)

Both Zooey and Y/N had started to hang out more and more as the weeks went on. Y/N starting to let the green eyed blonde in slowly. He was beginning to see a new Zooey. He doesn't know this Zooey but he wants to know her. So he decided that they would take his old car out for a drive together down to the beach. It is a few hour drive but he didn't mind. He wanted to keep his mind off of the upcoming biopsy he has for his tumour.

"So we're taking this old piece of metal?" Zooey said as she wore her sunglasses on her head as Y/N smiled at her and nodded.

"Yes we are." He said with a smile as he got in the drivers seat. She shook her head with a smile as she got in the passenger seat.

"So to the beach." She stated as he confirmed it with a smile. She decided to hook up her phone to the AUX in the car. Then their favourite song came on.

"It's tearing up my heart when I'm with you." Y/N sang at the top of his lungs.

"And when we are apart I feel it too." Zooey continued. Y/N started to smile as he sang along with her to NSYNC driving to the beach. Just like they used to do. His smile started to fade as he thought about the future he might possibly not have. He knew that he had always wanted Zooey in his life, whether it was as a friend or more. He knew that he needed her as much as she needed him.

"So, what should we do tonight?" Zooey asked as she lay in the sun in her bikini.

"We can do whatever. We can hit the clubs on the strip if you'd want to." He suggested as he watched the waves come and go.

"Yeah, that would be fun." She agreed as Y/N stood up with a smirk. He watched over Zooey as she had her eyes closed taking in the sun. He decided to pick her up bridal style as she squealed at the unexpected movement as Y/N ran to the sea. He splashed in with Zooey holding on for dear life. "You asshole." She said as she slapped his shoulder as he laughed.

"You love this asshole." He teased her as she smiled. She did love him. She had never stopped loving him. She hates herself for how she cheated on him. She ruined the best thing she ever had. She ruined him.

"I do." She whispered as she looked in his eyes. He heard her loud and clear and decided to ignore it. He was still unsure about fully giving into her just yet. He didn't want to be more. He didn't want to put her through any pain that they may face.

She soon screamed when he went under with her. When they both came back up, he pushed her wet golden locks to the side. He smiled as he gazed into those eyes he fell in love with so easily. The eyes that captured his heart and has kept it prisoner all this time.

"We should get dried." He told her as she nodded. They both walked back to their towels side by side. Zooey caught a glimpse of the scar on his shoulder as they walked together.

Zooey was sat waiting for Y/N to come home from a big shift. She decided to cook him a roast. Something tasty and nourishing and hopefully will give him some energy back. That was until her phone rang.

"Hello?" She answered as she turned down the heat on the stove.

"Zooey, it's Dave. Y/N is in the hospital." As soon as she heard those words she turned off the cooker and started to get her shoes and coat as Dave explained to her what had happened. She rushed to get there, frightened for her fiance.

"Hi, my fiance Y/N Y/L/N was brought in earlier." She told the receptionist 

"Oh yeah. He has just come up from surgery, he is in room 209." She told Zooey who thanked her and walked as fast as she could through the corridors like she is racing against time.

When she opened the door, she saw Y/N in a hospital gown and his arm in a sling and bandages. He was laughing at something Dave had said.

"Hey baby." She said as she approached the other side of the bed. She ran her hand through his hair making him close his eyes at the action.

"Hey my love." He gave her a wide smile before she kissed his head.

"What happened?" She asked them both. They explained how he was harnessed as he was replacing the insulation in The Richardson's Manor and the beam that they had used to support the harness snapped causing Y/N to come falling down and he got his arm wrapped in the rope and dislocated his shoulder and he needed the surgery because the tendon snapped. "You need to be more careful."

"I know." Y/N said softly as he kissed her hand. "The beam had rot inside it. We never realised it because it was painted so we thought it was strong." He told her as she just listened to him explain.

"I was so worried Y/N." She told him once Dave had left. "I thought I would lose you when Dave called. I didn't know what to think." She told him as he cupped her cheek with his free hand.

"I am so sorry Zooey." He whispered as she leaned in and pressed a longing kiss on his lips. "I love you so much." He whispered as she rested her forehead on his.

"I love you more." She said with a smile as she gazed into his eyes. The eyes she knew she wanted to wake up to everyday.
