This is so sad because it's true. There will always be a divide between them. Mortal and immortal, Downworlder and Shadowhunter. And yet, that's how the get along so well. This has made them something to look up to for both Downworlders and Shadowhunters. They are a sign of hope that gay couples and Shadowhunter-Downworlder couples are okay and can be accepted. I think that's why I love them so much, because they overcame these differences in a rational way. Instead of blindly giving up everything for his love and being immortal, Alec thought of himself and his family as well.
