Chapter 9- The Hogwarts Express

James awoke suddenly to his alarm clock. He glimpsed over and saw the time read half seven. Breakfast was at eight and he still hadn't packed. He jumped out of bed and shook Sirius awake. Sirius grunted a bit and slowly got out of Remus's bed. James grabbed everything he wanted to take home for Christmas and everything he needed and closed his trunk. 7:40. James quickly got into clothes and fixed his messy hair but made things worse. Now Remus was waking but he wasn't in a panic as he packed day before. Sirius had finally woken a bit and was rushing across the room. 7:50. James sat on his bed panting. He laughed at Sirius who was struggling to find everything in the scattered room. 7:58. James looked at Sirius who was finally ready to go.

"All set?" James asked and Sirius just nodded. The three walked out the dorm and headed to breakfast.

"I still don't get how you packed in ten minutes," Sirius complained.

"I threw a few things in last night so I only grabbed what I needed to bring home,"

8:03. They finally walked into the hall. It was only half full as some students weren't going home for Christmas so they could sleep in. James scanned the hall. There was a lot of Hufflepuff's sitting together. James saw Amos Diggory chatting with Richie Abbott. He looked over at Ravenclaw and majority were reading books. Lily was chatting with Marlene, Mary and Alice. Sirius and Remus led their way to their spot at the table and walking through James looked over at the Slytherin table. Lucius Malfoy was sitting with Severus Snape and Narcissa. Bart Crouch was sitting with Evan and, there he was, Regulus. James tried to catch his eyes but he was to busy talking with Barty. James sat down across from Remus and Sirius and grabbed some toast. James had a clear view of Regulus and he was looking over every so often, until a group of Slytherins including Regulus, Barty and Evan looked over in his direction and sniggered. James was suspicious as the last time this happened they were pranked. James turned to Sirius and Remus and explained. All three of them looked over at the Slytherins and glared at them. The glaring back and fourth was cut short when Frank Longbottom walked up to the three. 

"Oi! Potter!" He called walking up to them. James gulped. Oh god what did he do now...

The hall went silent assuming something was about to go down.

"You know you can call me james right?" James joked. He knew Frank would never call him that.

"No." Frank said plain out. "Anyway, came to let you know we have another quidditch game coming up."

Now the hall really went silent as they were curious.

"But the seasons over..." James said thinking Frank had lost it.

"We just got a chance to go try out for the Chudley Canons."

"Wait what!? Are you serious?" James had jumped from his seat.

"No I'm siri-" Sirius began before Remus hit him. "Ow!"

"It gets old Pads,"

"You too Black, You got called as well"

"me?!" Sirius was now standing.

"Yes, McGonagall just owled me about it, so i expect you two to practice over the summer,"

The two nodded and watched Frank leave the hall. It was still quiet as everyone was waiting to see their reactions. James turned to Sirius who had his mouth wide open. 

"OH. MY. GOD!!" Sirius yellowed and he jumped over the table into James arms and the hall burst into cheers. James looked over at the group of Slytherins. Most looked pissed, One or two were shocked and Regulus looked happy and proud. This made the moment more special for James.

"Hate to interrupt but the train is leaving in twenty minutes and everyone's starting to leave now," Remus said getting up.

James went to walk out but Sirius didn't get down so James carried him some way out of the hall while people laughed.

"Mate, Go get Moony to carry you," Sirius jumped down and went over to Remus.

"No." Remus said bluntly and kept walking so Sirius had to walk behind them.

The boys made it to there dorm and grabbed their trunks.

"Bring the map,"

James picked the map up and put it in his pocket and they left. They said they'd meet Regulus at the station so they kept walking. Neither of them noticed Regulus behind them with Barty. Regulus was watching James and not hearing a word Barty said. Barty noticed this.

"Don't let them catch ye,"

"What?"

"Your making googly eyes at Potter," Barty sighed. "You'll get yourself caught and you could be dropped completely,"

"Why aren't you dropping me?"

"I've known you liked him for ages. It doesn't bother me. So I'm not going to ruin your life,"

"Thanks mate,"

When they got to the station James put his own and Sirius and Remus trunk onto the train. He still hadn't noticed Regulus beside him putting his trunk onto the train. Regulus looked at Barty and Barty rolled his eyes and gestured Regulus to follow him onto the train.

"Guys, Should we wait for Reg?" James asked the two.

"He just got on the train with Barty. How did you not see him?" Sirius said

James went silent and got onto the train and found the first compartment free and took it. Sirius sat in and Remus followed in suit. They sat and chat while the train pulled off from the platform.
