Angel's POV
As I walked closer to the training site, I couldn't help but to immediately notice Xavier running towards me probably smelling me from miles away. It was funny watching how his eyes widened in excitement, he was always such a cheerful outgoing person, it's a wonder he wanted to be my friend. But since the beginning he's always said since we're the only male omegas in the pack we were destined to be "besties for the resties" his words not mine.
"Angie!!!" He screams while jumping on me making me lose my balance, and with our positions I went straight down taking him along with me. He peppers innocent kisses all over my face, not leaving an inch dry from his wet lips. I could feel the judging eyes of my pack peers which made my face turn a bright shade of red in embarrassment.
"Oh I just missed you so very much!" His yell was obnoxiously loud causing my ears to ring.
"You seen me yesterday" I replied quietly hoping no one could hear how small and scratchy my voice was.
"So, I still missed you. I've seriously been here all day. Ugh, I hate that Zeke drags me along saying shit like 'You're an omega, you need to learn how to defend yourself from the horny wolves," and i'm like 'I DON'T GIVE A SHIT." He mimics his older brother with a sarcastic eye roll. "I told him the only one who is getting this sweet ass is my buddy Angie, it's too bad you're a bottom." I blushed furiously as he went to lean in to give me a teasing kiss on the lips, but before he could I pushed him off of me.
"Get off of me and don't say dirty things like that." I pleaded wishing he could be normal for five seconds, though it was refreshing never having to talk around him because you could never get him to stop talking. I turned my face away from him as he threw his head back laughing as if I had just made the funniest joke.
"Chris, get your fucking ass over here." My head spun quickly to the side watching a tall skinny Chris stand still with his vacant eyes staring back into mine, his expression was perplexed yet the eyes gave nothing away to how he was feeling. Michael always told me the most dangerous people are those who you could never read, I didn't know why he would always stare at me with such emptiness or why he'd randomly ask me such crude things. I shivered just thinking about it, even Xavier was tense above me.
Zeke went to yell at Chris again, but he was already gone and training with another warrior.
Xavier finally stood, grabbing my hands and pulling me up with him. We were both the same height but his curly brown hair stood an inch taller which he always had to mention as if it made some kind of difference. He had a complex for being a man's man, but I guess growing up the only male omega in the pack made him feel inferior to those around him, it was endearing but annoying all at the same time. Just another one of his many quarks that i'd never want to change. Xavier was the first friend I made since coming to the pack, I was a complete stranger and he took me in immediately as if he'd known me his whole life, he's an omega like me but he never let that stop him from standing up to the other pack members who got to close. He watched out for me, but I wasn't stupid enough to realize he didn't need me just as much as I needed him.
Even now when we heard fast approaching feet and Michael yelling behind the tree line, Xavier stood between me with an unusually serious expression.
"Noah stop!" Everyone stopped training and stared confusedly towards the direction of Michael's demanding voice.
"What's going on?" I couldn't help but ask my friend as he stood unmoving. I grabbed his arm trying to see who was coming towards us.
My breath hitched when a man descended through the green of the trees, the world immediately became brighter as the man approached with a confident strut, there was no stopping the man as he came closer in our direction. He was tall and his body was adorned with thick muscles, but what struck me the most was the sudden wave of nostalgia I felt when I breathed his scent in deeply, I exhaled quickly just to inhale that smell and I held it tightly feeling my chest ache. It was something so familiar, yet I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I wanted to taste that smell and imprint it into my mind forever, it was my mother and father, it was the first time I felt the cool rain on my skin, it was the moment the moon goddess put my spirit into this body. I could suddenly remember every first moment I've ever had, I didn't even realize I was crying till Xavier pulled me closer calling my name in a worried voice.
And for the first time ever I felt another presence other than my own coming to the forefront of my mind. I wanted to scream at the intrusion but it was so warm and kind that my mind wanted nothing more than to rest, and so it did. My eyes fluttered closed and I fell deeply into thoughts of that beautiful smell, but not before I heard a sweet voice call out.
'Mate.'
