(Masons POV)
The jealousy was burning hot, coming to a boiling point. Flames were licking viciously behind my eyes as they watched my mates walk hand in hand through the garden laughing and giggling. I wanted so desperately to interrupt their little conversation and I would if it weren't for the fact that every time I tried Angel would hide behind Noah like I would somehow hurt him!
I was always an even tempered man but my patience was becoming unnervingly thin. I stayed close behind as if I was some lame third wheel but I refused to give up, hoping they'd decide to turn around and include me in the joke. Alexander was oddly quiet but honestly with how today has gone he was being more normal than most.
I felt so much anger but most of all I felt hurt, I felt rejected by not one but two mates and honestly I didn't know how much longer I had until my heart completely split open. My feet suddenly stopped and I stared solemnly to the ground, tears fell slowly soaking into the greedy dirt. Their laughter drifted further and further away, further away from me. I'd hoped they'd at least turn around and recognize my absence but they continued as if they never knew I was there to begin with.
"Are you okay?" I wiped my tears quickly before lifting my head to see Xavier, the omega that stood protectively in front of Angel when Noah bombarded him.
I turned my head from him ashamed he seen his future alpha at such a low and vulnerable moment.
"Uh yeah, just got something in my eye." I hoped my eyes weren't red when I looked at him and smiled. Looking at him face to face the first thing I noticed was his hazel eyes and his twin dimples. He smiled at me brightly but their was an underlining sadness. One I recognized because it was the same I had just moments before.
"I know it's not the same, but I'd love to take a walk?" I wanted to go but my heart tugged in the direction of my mates, instincts telling me to follow closely behind.
"I'm sorry, maybe some other time." I brushed past him but I didn't miss the smile falter from his face. I walked in the direction of my mates but not before turning to catch one more glance of the omega seeing him retreating with a defeated shrug.
It didn't take long to find Noah and Angel as they sat on a bench in the middle of the garden sharing in secret words as they leaned into one another's ear.
"Hey," Angel jumped in surprise as I interrupted their intimate moment.
"Oh hey." The air was awkward as I made space in between the happy couple.
"So what are you guys talking about?" I smiled brightly at my mate watching his eyes glaze in fear, my happiness turned sour once again.
"Why do you keep doing that?!" I screamed. His head jerked back and his body began to tremble, his eyes becoming impossibly large.
Noah was quick to pull me off the bench and jump in front of Angel, but I retaliated, slapping his offending hand from my face.
"Why do you keep acting like I'm gonna hurt you? I'm your mate for goddess sake!" I wanted to grab Angel and shake him till he confessed what was so wrong with me.
"I-I'm sorry. I don't." Angel peered up from behind Noah.
"He doesn't feel the mate bond with you!" Noah suddenly screamed pushing me hard onto the ground. All I could do was stare dumbfounded at both of them, how could he not? Had I not felt the bond as well? I didn't know what it was supposed to feel like, so was I in the wrong in assuming they were both my mate?
