Whoever chased me into the woods also seemed to have followed me, luckily for me humans never think of looking up. Or at least this one didn't. I hope they didn't see too much, I thought. Not like it would really matter anyways, no one would believe them.

There was absolutely no proof of my beautiful wings existing, besides the lone feather I was still clinging onto. Still, one thing bothered me, when did they disappear?

The human was right underneath me now, close enough where I could make out details. They had brown hair, it was a little long, quite a few inches taller than me, I could now make out enough detail to tell that they were a boy. I heard him mumble something I couldn't make out from here when suddenly he stiffened. A cold chill filled the woods again.

There was a snapping sound towards the right of us, "Hello?" he asked, "Is anyone out there?" but no one answered. As far as I could see there was no one within the mile radius. I waited for the perfect opportunity to run, he was distracted and I could make it out undetected. I waited silently. Another twig broke, this time from the other direction, the boy began to fidget. He was uncomfortable and he was going to run, now was my chance. I began to climb down from the tree careful not to make any noise. I was right, he began to run and the chill disappeared with him. Soon he was out of sight, yet I kept looking towards the path, I don't know why but I started to run towards him. I just knew something bad was going to happen.

Just as he came back into view something yanked him back. He struggled but couldn't get away. My stomach grew sick watching him and soon I found myself running towards him. It no longer mattered whether he saw me, I felt that if I didn't do something the boy would die, and that would be on my shoulders. When I got close enough I noticed there wasn't anything there but it still looked as if the boy were being attacked, I don't know what I did but I noticed the boy fall down to the ground, I tried to reach out to him but this time I was pulled back, the invisible monster or whatever it was was targeting me now but at least it wasn't after the boy.

I felt something cold touch me, it wasn't the simple chill that I felt in the air, it was like someone took a piece of ice and just left it on your skin for far too long. I tried to run away but I couldn't no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get myself to move. My brain was yelling at me to get out of there but I was trapped in my own body. My eyes were glued to my arm as I watched in sheer horror as my skin tore open, it was doing a good job at cutting me and I wanted to run, I wanted to get out of there so badly but it was as if I were frozen to the very spot. I watched as warm blood dripped down my arm and onto the ground, covering it in a crimson color. Whatever it was began to circle around me, watching as my fear took me over, it's touch never leaving. It wondered until it reached my back, there I could feel it freeze, it growled loudly before I could no longer feel the cold.
