Chapter 6 : Aftermath of Betrayal

Rei blankly stared at the three of us with the most annoyed-teacher expression I've ever seen.

I would've internally joked that she would say, "I'll wait." If I didn't just get exposed for covering up an attempted murder.

My only escape from this situation would be if Mitch or Kiyoka suddenly came up with a good excuse as to why the three of us were out sat nighttime, with Kiyoka holding a hammer and Mitch's hair being dusted with the remnants of my teacup.

Yeah, we're screwed.

The three of us remained silent.

Kakeru stared at the hammer.

"D-Did someone...? Were you guys...?"

"They were plotting to kill." Rei stated blankly. Kakeru's eyes widened in shock.

"Wh-What..!?"

"N-No! We weren't!" Kiyoka exclaimed, waving her hands and shaking her head rapidly. The fact that she was still holding the hammer probably made it less convincing.

"Then what were you doing?"

Kiyoka didn't know what to say, I don't either.

In this situation... is it best to just tell the truth? There aren't any good excuses, and-

"Yamaguchi. Wake everyone up."

"W-Wait!" Kiyoka cried.

Kakeru shyly nodded, and headed to each dorm, beginning to ring the doorbells one by one.

Mitch's breathing quickened. Was he trembling?

I put a hand on his shoulder. He stared back at me with glassy eyes. I wanted to give Mitch time for him to process what happened, even let him make amends at his own pace, but now...

I scanned his eyes before turning to Kiyoka, who could only look down at her feet. Rei narrowed her eyes.

I began to open my mouth, to say literally anything.

I heard rapid footsteps approaching, "What's going on!?"

Tsurugi was out of his dorm in a flash, glaring at the three of us as his eyes wandered to the hammer. As the three of us stayed quiet, he said only two words.

"Drop it."

Kiyoka obeyed and the hammer fell to the floor once again.

"Y/n Chan!? Mitsuhiro? Kiyoka Chan?" Akane was the next to step out of her dorm. One by one, the others opened their doors.

"H-Huh!? Y-You guys...you didn't..." Ayame stood back at the sight of us.

"Wh-Wha happen'd? What'd y'all do!?" Teruya cried.

"It's obvious what they tried to do!" Kizuna yelled, her face turning red with anger, "This is why I can't fucking trust you!"

"I-I..! What the hell!?" Haruhiko's eyes grew wider by the second.

"Ooh, did we interrupt a moment between you guys?" Satsuki asked, with a faltering smile. Her joke fell flat in the tense atmosphere.

"A moment!? Kiyoka has a hammer!"

"Mr. Kobashikawa, calm down! W-We don't know... Y/n... she told me she wouldn't..!" Kanata began to tear up. I wanted to comfort her, but Tsurugi glared at me any time I moved.
