My mind was still reeling from Daryl's kiss by nightfall. He was rough, his lips chapped from not taking care of them. The way his arms held me tight, securing myself against his body. No wonder the women loved him, everything about him was simply irresistible.
But what he had in looks he lacked in personality. To put it simply he was an incompetent asshole.
Sighing, I looked at the clock. I had to be at the bar in two hours to sing and with the rate I was going I wasn't gonna be ready in time. I pushed every thought of Daryl out of my head and made my way to the bathroom.
I turned on my straightener, letting it heat up for a minute before running it through the places that really needed straightening. I applied some light eyeshadow on the base of my lid and covered the lash line with black eyeliner, making a perfect wing effect that made my eyes pop.
I quickly moved out of the bathroom and into my bedroom, quickly stripping down out of my lazy clothes so I could pull on the perfect outfit to perform my new song "rockstar".
Black skinny jeans, an MTV shirt and a flannel top over it. To finish it off I wore my favorite cross knit black beanie.
I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. I only had 45 minutes left until I was due at Sliders. I grabbed my wallet off the floor and made my way out of my apartment complex. Standing in the streets, I brought my fingers to my mouth and blew, causing a whistle to form. A taxi heard me and came to a stop. I piled in the back. "Sliders Bar, please." I say to the driver. He nods and we drive off down the road.
...
"Yer late." My boss, Noah, states. His arms are were crossed and he was tapping his foot. I swear he was so over-dramatic at some points, but I didn't say anything because after all he paid my bills.
"Sorry." I say. "Time got away from me.
Noah's mad expression dissolves into a understanding one. "Well just don't do it again. Your a great girl, it would be a shame to lose you." He said this with a smile and I felt the tiniest bit of a shiver run down my back. I had heard the talk around the building that Noah had a crush on me. Don't get me wrong, the guy was sweet and all but he wasn't really my type.
Daryl was
No no no. Do not go there! Daryl is a pathetic, low graded, redneck. You are a powerful, strong, beautiful and dependent young women. No guy could ever take that away from you.
"Beth?" A strong voice asks.
I turn around. "Yes Gareth?" Gareth was my lead pianist, and also so happened to be my ex.
"We have a problem. Jimmy is sick." That was a problem. Jimmy was one of the back-up singers and my lead bass guitar. He was a great asset to the band and we sounded average without him. I placed my head in my hands. "Today is not going the way I planned it to." I groan.
"We can always find someone to replace for the night. It can't be that hard. Right?" Gareth says hopefully.
The door of the bar opened and my heart sped up.
