The Vampires
The vampires in this tale are as diverse and strange as human beings are, only far greater in power and health and of course with a need for blood. The sun does not burn them, but it makes them weak and less powerful than the average human, which is why they prefer to stay awake during the night. Gem of the Crystal Cliffs and Fwhip of the Grimmlands are twins, both of red hair and brighter red eyes, but different in philosophy and morals. Gem made a life for herself as a powerful magic wielder, and only feeds upon other beings when left with no other choice. Fwhip on the other hand will gladly and with no regret feed upon those who wrong him even in the slightest degree, and rules over the Grimmlands as an alchemist, building great weapons if war should ever come over the lands.
The Dhampires
Mythland's royal family has for many generations married vampires and other dark beings to increase their power, and Mythical Sausage is one of many rulers that are dhampirs, half human and half vampire. He also claims to be related to the were-creatures of the jungle, though this has never been proven. Dhampirs are most known for being able to sense what other beings truly are, even if they are disguised. They also do not suffer from the light as much as vampires do, though their power and might is less even in the complete dark of night. These powers have inspired the king of Mythland to not only rule the country, but to take on the task of hunting down and assassinating monsters as well, though he notably refuses to hunt his fellow emperors or any who can claim close relation or friendship with them.
The Forest Spirits
No one is fully sure what the forest spirits are, other than that they are very few and many believe that they are the lost spirits from a long dead empire. Though, the empire in question may be both one of the most alive and most dead out of all empires, for it's queen is the long dead spirit of an elven princess who brings warmth and summer heat to the kingdom she rules in death. She and her people do not wish any harm upon the empires but offer to trade them the food they grow. Though they will not hesitate to attack if they are greatly wronged.
The were-creatures
Were-creatures live in the deep jungle beyond the Grimmlands, and many spend their lives in the Lost Empire. Most were-creatures are in the shape of jaguars or tigers, and look nothing like humans in anything but their clothes, speech and intelligence. There are few exceptions though, like the emperor of the Lost Empire, who are human but suffered a curse and transform into monstrous versions of great cats and wolves. The transformation is agonising and leaves their body aching days after they've become human again. This is one of the reasons that the Lost Empire is partially built on the river, as the cold water can ease the pain of those who have been cursed.
The Sirens
The sirens, also known as the sea or lake doe, look in many ways similar to humans, some more or less than others. But there are some that could in no aspect be mistaken for humans, like the queen of the Ocean Empire and Mezalea. She is a 10 ft sea monster, resembling a blue axolotl with many sharp teeth and claws. Her brother however is the king of the swamps and marshes, and he is in most aspects human aside from his fish tail, small claws and blunt fangs as well as gills along his neck. Sirens are known to be able to lure sailors and travellers to their death with their song, though most do not do this and prefer to feed on fish or other animals over humans.
The Gnomes
There are very few gnomes in the world, as they originate from another dimension which was plagued by corruption not long ago. There is one who has established a small village with herself and several forest spirits inhabiting carved tree trunks. Gnomes are small and love fungi most out of all the plants, and have been noted to make friends with wolves even though the canines are much larger than they are.
The Fae
The Fae go by many names, such as the fairies, the fae folk, faeries and many others, but here they will be referred to as the fae. They appear usually as small people made out of petals, wood and insect wings, but their queen may grow to be as tall as elven women. According to their legend, the first fae were born from flowers, which is why they love flowers above all plants and creatures and never harm them. Many also believe that the elves originate from fae that grew tall and more human, and from this legend grew an alliance between the two races and it is tradition for elven heirs to the throne to marry the princes and princesses of the fae, but in the present generation this tradition has been broken, for reasons that neither of the rulers will disclose.
The Elves
The elves are similar to humans and some can disguise themselves as them, but they are tall and often thin and paler than corpses, some having even blue or grey skin. Their eyes are like the fae, large, round and dark and their hair comes in all the colours of the rainbow as well as those found in humans. Their teeth and claws are sharp, though they do not attack people unless they intrude on their realms or cause them harm. Once they do attack and kill humans, they find it wasteful to leave the corpse at the place of it's death, and either bring it back to their great halls to share with their fellow elves or eat it where it lay. Elves, just like the fae, fear iron and fire most, but unlike the fae they can endure the cold and often seek out cold mountains and taigas to build their hidden homes. Another thing the elves have in common with the fae is that if you enter their realm and either consume, steal or accept any gift from them then you may never leave without their permission and your soul and body is in the ownership of the elf who tricked you.
