Have you smelt a fruit today or yesterday...
Everytime we worked with fruits the first thing we received was the acrid almost acidic smell of the chemicals
We children were closer to the ground and the smell was lasting even with the bandanas that we used to cover our nose and mouth—didn't block much
We received it like perfume
Everytime I reached for a fruit it felt like time went slowly
But each cut smelled better
That sweet and acidic smell
Until I just couldn't stand the smell
I believe it was more because of the cuts I had in each finger
Or it could've been the sting of open wounds
Mixed with the never ending smell
