Two skeletons were in the kitchen. They decided upon making dinner together. The darker, goopier skeleton loved cooking and was astoundingly well at it too. On the other hand, the lighter, off white boned skeleton wasn't that good at cooking, he hadn't done much of it and didn't really know how to cook. Well, he somewhat didn't really know how to cook.

"Hey Cross, mind grabbing a cast iron skillet from the cabinet?" The king asked with a gentle tone.

"Yep, I can grab you one," the mismatched eyelighted skeleton said before going to a cabinet and looking through all of the pots and pans. He grabbed a pan and took it over to Nightmare. "This one?" He asked, holding it up despite it being heavier than what he expected.

Nightmare looked and nodded. "That one will work perfectly, go ahead and set it on the stove for me then I'll have you mix this."

Cross nodded and set the pan on the stove carefully before standing near the other. "What do you want me to mix?" He gently asked, looking at the bowl his boyfriend was adding ingredients into.

"Just the pancake mix, I'm making it from scratch, from scratch is much better than those box mixes," Nightmare told him. "That's just the lazy way of making them."

Cross let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, the food you make always tastes good," he gently said. "You never take shortcuts and make it right."

"Thank you," Nightmare said in a slightly proud tone. "I don't cut corners nor do I make them from the cheap and shitty pre-made stuff."

Well, could things have really gone worse? Yes, yes it could but it still was pretty bad in the dark gray sweatered skeleton's eyelights. He happened to spill a bunch of the batter on the counter, floor and his clothing. He thought he had a good hold on the bowl but it slipped from his fingers.

"It's okay," the king gently said, his tone holding care and gentleness. "I can always make more, you don't have to be sorry about anything. Mistakes happen, even to me."

Cross gently nodded. "I know but I feel bad though," he quietly said with a slight saddened tone. "I split the batter you made all over. Wasted it really."

"I know but that's okay, I can always make more," Nightmare gently said in a slight reassuring tone. "How about we get the counters, floor, and you cleaned up?"

Cross let out a small breath and nodded. "Yeah, probably should before it sticks."

Nightmare stood a little closer to him and pecked a kiss onto his temple. "Let's head into our room and clean you up first, you are my top priority."

Cross smiled slightly but the embarrassment he felt still rested in his chest. "Thank you."

They got Cross all cleaned up and once they did that, they got the food remade and cooked. Cross still did feel bad but he thinks he might do something special for his boyfriend to make it up. He didn't want to make any more little mess ups because of his clumsiness and so, doing something for his boyfriend was a way to make it up for him being so clumsy.
