I think

I'm not sure why I'm here.

I'm not sure why my first thought after hearing that dumb voicemail was to come to his house.

We hate each other. We want to rip one another's throats out.

I think.

"Hey Cole, I know we haven't spoken in a while but I'd love to meet up sometime. I'd really like to catch up, if you want to of course. I'm free this weekend so just get back to me when you can."

He sounds different. Almost more mature. Perhaps it's just the sound of the phone altering the tone but it seems off. I'm not sure I like it.

What confuses me most, however, is why he reached out to me in the first place. After what I did, you'd think he would be glad to be rid of me.

I spent two days thinking it over; did I wanna see him again, did he really wanna see me or was it a prank, and - most importantly - why was I considering it?

I hate Jay. He's annoying and entitled. I'm tired of him.

I think.

But once I saw the voicemail appear on my phone after a random phone call from said blue ninja, my heart jumped. It was almost like I was waiting to hear something from him. For once, I felt relieved.

Maybe I did miss him. Just a little.

But even after realising those relieved feelings and wondering whether to respond or not, I still hadn't said anything. Now it's Saturday and I'm marching down the quiet streets of Ninjago City in hopes I have his address right.

What was I supposed to say?

I originally wasn't planning on seeing him at all and just hoping he'd call again so I could pick up but when I woke up this morning, I couldn't get rid of the thought.

He had the weekend off.

So I showered, got dressed and went out, taking my motorbike into the city and stopping just down the road in case he saw me. I didn't want to make it look like I planned to come here.

I didn't.

Now I'm stood in front of his door. Do I knock? Is there a hidden doorbell I need to press? What if he's asleep? Maybe he has other plans now?

Either way, I probably look weird just stood here.

C'mon Cole, stop being a chicken, just do it.

But when I do go to knock, the door opens on its own. Or rather not on it's own, but someone goes to step out, almost bumping into me. He stands in shock for a moment, as do I.

My hand is still raised as if I were going to knock, but now I'm frozen.

"Oh."

No words come out.

"Cole?" he frowns.

His voice is still the same.

I finally lower my hand, clearing my throat and giving him a small awkward smile.

I should step back.

"Hi."

He gulps, "what are you-"

"You called. You said you were free this weekend?"

"Right. Yeah.."

I finally step back onto the path as he puts his hand on the door frame. He looks me up and down quickly before lightly smiling.

"I was just gonna go grocery shopping if you wanna tag along. If I'd known you were coming I would've gone yesterday.."

"Yeah, that's okay."
