"Take that bolthead!"

"Cole, we're supposed to be fighting the skeletons, not each other!"

With the world being as quiet as ever, no missions and a serious lack of training, it provided the ninja with a lot more free time than they knew what to do with. It was much deserved, of course, but they certainly weren't familiar with so much boredom.

Most of the ninja took the opportunity to do things they wanted to do with their time previously, only to have it interrupted by criminals. After catching up on some much needed time with her yang, Nya started designing some new mechs and vehicles. Kai visited his parents, helping out at the Blacksmith shop when he could, as well as helping Skylor out with the noodle house. Zane and Pixal kept mostly to themselves, going on walks, cooking, etc. Cole and Jay, however, had nothing better to do than play video games.

The pair hadn't spent much time together since the fight against the skull sorcerer, which was odd since they were practically inseparable. Cole was spending a lot of time with Vania and the Upply, while Jay was with Nya 99% of the time (after being separated a lot for missions), so the world just seemed to be completely against the friends spending any time together. But what better time was there than now that everyone was distracted again?

They both hated to admit it aloud, but they genuinely did miss spending so much time together, whether it was doing something stupid or training.

The two had done various things, such as movie nights, extra training, baking, and Jay teaching him some things about inventing here and there, but now they were running out of ideas. Video games were always fun and a great pastime.

Fist2Face 5 had only recently been released and Cole snatched it up while he could (it was on sale). Now, the pair were sat in the games room, comfortable on the couch, game controllers in hand and screaming at the screen whenever they were close to dying. The game was pretty much the same as the others, but with different levels and much tougher enemies. Considering Jay and Cole were already pros at the previous games, however, so it was a breeze for them.

After only 3 hours of playing, they were just over halfway through the game.

"It's more fun when I fight you," Cole responded with a smirk.

Jay rolled his eyes, smiling too, "there's no point trying to fight me when you'll lose."

Cole scoffed, "I'll lose? Who was the winner of 31 out of 50 games of Smash Bros last week?"

"You counted?" Jay raised an eyebrow.

"Roughly."

Their banter had never changed. Ever since they met, they'd always been cocky like this with one another, even when they were fighting. Their friendship never really seemed to be that serious - always making fun and shoving each other - but they were always there for one another. It was definitely an odd friendship.

They often went through phases. First they'd fight, and it'd be a little tense, at other times they were super touchy and close with each other, but most of the time they just acted like normal friends. Nobody really knew what phase they were in right now, not even themselves.

"I'm assuming you only counted because you wanted to prove you can actually win something against me," Jay grinned.

"Uh, excuse me-" Cole nudged Jay's arm with his elbow, "which of us always wins in sparring?"

"Uhm," Jay glanced at him briefly, frowning, "me?"

"No you don't!"

"I have much better combat skills than you."

Cole chuckled, pressing the buttons on his controller more aggressively as he's attacked by a skeleton.
