"Welcome to Whitney's Playland Horror Nights!"

Nothing like starting the Halloween weekend in an amusement park. Whitney's Playland is the oldest and the biggest fair in the city, I'd come here a good amount of time when I was a kid. And when Sadie, who works in the place, invited us because they have free tickets to all of the attractions, we couldn't -I couldn't- say no.

We all arrived with huge smiles on our faces like childrens, well, except Harry, who looks like he would rather be anywhere else but here.

"This is gonna be so fun! I wanna go to the roller coaster first. Want to join me, babe?" Suki asks Luke, who blinks and purses his lips in debt.

"Mmm, why don't we go to the hall of mirrors first?"

"I hope you're not afraid of heights, Lukey." Suki elbows him grinning mischievously and the Australian chuckles awkwardly.

"Me? pff, I am- I am not." But his wide frightened eyes say otherwise, staring up at the enormous roller coaster from outside, it looks like almost touching the sky. That wasn't there when I was a kid.

"C'mon then!"

My hyperactive best friend tugs him by the arm and drags them past the front entrance gate, which has the name of the park in big shining neon blue and red lights at the top and two creepy clowns opening and closing their mouths. The ticket booth is decorated with spiderwebs and there are tall pumpkins everywhere with lights inside. TJ follows, exclaiming they need to find Sadie first. It's not night yet but the sun is setting in, the sky painted in orange and dark blue.

I start moving my cherry red Docs across the wet asphalt when I see Harry walking past me with his hand inside his black cargo pants.

"I hope you're not afraid of heights either." I comment teasingly. He snorts and doesn't flinch when a woman dressed as the exorcist jumps towards us trying to scare us.

"Roller coasters happen to be my favorite attraction." He replies without much enthusiasm, scanning the park "I like adrenaline."

"Of course you do, bad boy." I mumble and he shrugs with a tiny smirk, speeding his walk and leaving me behind. His fucking long legs.

I follow my friends, but wander my gaze around the fair, taking in the fairy lights, neon colors in the attractions, the halloween decorations making me feel I'm in a real haunted town, the screams of adrenaline and fear, the kids in costumes, the workers also in costumes scaring the people, the smell of popcorns, sweets and fast food, the melodies of the games and some spooky music setting the atmosphere.
