"Haaappyy birthdayyy to youuuu!"

Multiple voices wake me up from my deep sleep and besides the confusion of where I am, my heavy head threatened to explode at the sudden noises that burst into the room. I groan with my eyes still closed, burying my face on the pillow as I recognize the voices coming from my family.

"Haaappyy birthday Ramonaa!!"

I feel someone jumping on my bed, making me roll on the mattress and finally open my blurry eyes. Blinking a few times and rubbing my eyes, I see my mom and my dad standing by my left side of the bed carrying a tower of blueberry pancakes and a strawberry shortcake with a pumpkin candle, Gabbie sitting on her knees on my bed holding Buttercup in her arms, next to her laying some gift bags and boxes. All of them carry huge grins on their faces and despite the headache and sickness I feel, I cannot help but smile too.

"Happy birthday to youuu!" They stop singing and with the help of my hands I sit up on the bed when my mom extends the shortcake for me to blow the candle. A bright light flashes on the side of my face at the same time that I blew the candle, noticing Gabbie with a Polaroid in her hands.

"Good morning, my darling! Happy birthday." My mom leaves the cake on my nightstand and comes to wrap me in a tight mother hug "I love you so much, I can't believe my baby is twenty now!"

"Thank you mom, I love you more." My voice comes out raspy, I am in need of a large glass of water. I feel her lips planting multiple kisses on my cheek and I giggle.

"Happy birthday, little bird." My dad now holds me in his arms, swinging our bodies side to side "You're not a teen anymore but you're always gonna be my little girl you know that, right?"

"I know, thank you dad. I love you lots." I close my eyes and smile, feeling his lips kissing my forehead and his finger softly tugging on my ear making me laugh.

"Happy birthday granny!" Gabbie grins, first leaving my bunny next to my side and then reaching my body, involving me in an embrace.

"Thanks, G." I smile, and as soon as we separate I grab Buttercup and smother him in kisses.

"Here! open my present first." She says excitedly, handing me a black paper bag with a film camera design in the center.

I started opening the gifts, loving every single thing my family got me. My parents have always been splendid on our birthdays, spoiling us with a bunch of presents. My mom in particular, she said that she wanted to give us all the things that she never had the chance to receive as a kid, both material stuff and love. Her mom used to forget her birthday and if she knew, the woman never wanted to spend the day with her. I hate her, I'm glad I've never met my supposed grandmother, she was horrible to my mom and she is the strongest and most caring woman I know.
