Chapter 19

Beta was staring into space and had been silent for some time. Tren and I were concerned due to the odd silence he was realizing to us. Both of us had difficulty comprehending him. Hinayaan na muna namin na makapag-isip siya nang maayos.

"Si...si Sue naalala mo ba siya?" Tren breaks the silence. Mabilis akong umiling.

"I'm sorry."

I don't remember anything else besides P'mol and Moon's recollections. Perhaps I shouldn't recall the remaining details because if I did, I could later regret recalling them. I've still got no notion what caused P'mol to die, but I remember I was there. I feel guilty, sorry, and accountable for her death. My head was being bombarded with questions for what happened yet I still can't have the answer.

"No. You don't need to say sorry, Imos." Pinaglaruan niya ang lighter na hawak niya. "This lighter..."

He took a breath and gazed up at the sky. "I know you don't remember anything, but I distinctly remember how you saved me that day. You handed me this to get me warm."

Tren turned to face me and took my hand, saying, "Even when I was young, you always stood up for me, even if it cost you your life. I am confident that you did everything possible to save Beta's sister."

Somehow Tren made me feel so much better with his words. I don't know what I did to deserve this kind of friend.

Nakatingala ako sa kalangitan. Malapit na mag-umaga. Soon, the light will replace gloom, bringing life to every situation. I gently close my eyes, enjoying the cool air touching my skin. I somehow feel like I am on the right road and choosing to survive is my goal.

The three of us remain idle. Nobody has the audacity to disturb the peace that each of our thoughts preserve. Until Beta approached me. He sat down next to me and sighed. I smiled as I turned to face him.

"Hey," he said.

"Hi."

He exhales. "Ngayon alam ko na kung bakit ang kulit ng lalaki na iyon na magkaroon ako ng tattoo." He looked at me and gave me a lonely smile. "He told me this was going to happen, but he never told me it was going to bring me so much grief. Have you ever wondered why I'm here?"

I am curious too. Tren calls him Beta. I assumed that he should be in a better place right now, not here.

"That bastard told me if I relish my evil, this is where I fail, and he wasn't mistaken."

He took a deep breath. "It was one sinful night; both of us possess the lust that our bodies need. She didn't take any medicine drugs, which is why it was a successful one to usher my spring without turning into a beast. The Alpha didn't know what I did. We both hid it. I didn't think Aphrodite was into that bastard. She is beautiful, pure, and erudite enough to be fooled. That's why I covet her. The day that Moon was wasted and lured by Aphrodite, something happened to them. I thought I could avoid my obligations. Pero hindi."

Pinaglaruan niya ang kamay niya. " I am aware that not telling him the truth made me look cowardly. I was a jerk." He sighs. "That day, I feel like I'm cradled in sorrow every time I see them together and how Moon worries about Aphrodite. Moon and I are great friends, yet I let him wreck his life. "The time I went to your jail to bring the cream Moon ordered, they had already abused my sister, and I was too late. P'mol has been through, and I regretted that I didn't defend them from my uncle. But still, she remain undefeated."

He scoffs. "I didn't regret killing those old whore bastards, and I didn't regret being here."

"Why you didn't stop P'mol in the very first place?" Hindi ko mapigilan na mag-usisa. I know his heartbroken, but if she loves her sister, why won't he stop her? Hindi sana ay kapiling niya pa ngayon ang kapatid niya.
