I walk to my closet and go through all of my nice dresses. I flip through them all and come up with nothing. I groan and go through them all again until I decide on a long, black, sleeveless, gown that has a diamond studded pattern. I slip it on and adjust it to fall correctly. I slip on sandals and curl my hair. I brush on some mascara and lip gloss and wait for Ryan to return.
...
I heard the door open and went to stand up and go greet him. I rushed into Ryan's arms. I felt, safe. This was simple, expected, and comforting. I don't know how long I will do simple. I will do this for as long as I can. Ryan was already dressed in a tuxedo and so he held his arm out for me to slide mine around. I was slightly pained at the memory of Blake, but shook it off.I linked my arm with Ryan's and smiled up at him. He escorted us to his car and pulled opened the door for me. I love this simple life with this simple man. No complications, no extremities, no worries. This life is perfect, too perfect. But that's okay. This is okay. This is okay.
