The Best Year Of My Life

Tomorrow will be  a year since I asked Laney to be my girlfriend. I'm going to pick her up tonight and she's sleeping over. I pulled up to her house and walked up to the door. I was wearing boots jeans and a Christian Craig hoodie with a Monster Energy hat on. I knocked 3 times and Warren opened the door. "Ah, Haiden. Come in come in. " " Thank you sir" I said. Laney came running down the stairs and gave me a hug, and I kissed her on the forehead. "Ready?" I said. "Yeah." We waved goodbye to Warren and Cheyenne and walked out to my truck. I opened her door and helped her inside. I ran around to my side of the truck and jumped in. So you wanna go straight to my house or go somewhere. She threw a bag of her stuff in the backseat and she said to go back to the shed. I drove back by the shed and backed up. She loaded her bike into the bed of my truck. " I guess we are riding tonight" I said. She grabbed the big Thor MX gear bag I bought for her for her birthday and threw some gear in there. She threw her helmet and goggles in the backseat of my truck with the gear while I ratchet strapped her bike down. We both got in and drove away. We went to Chick-fil-A and got some food. Then I drove us back to my house. I parked the truck by the garage and walked inside. Me and Laney went right up to my room. I sat down on my bed and Laney sat next to me. I put my arm around her shoulders and pulled her in close to me. We decided to watch a movie so I set up an air mattress on the floor and we lay there and watched the conjuring. I grabbed Laney by the waist and pulled her close. She wrapped her arms around my neck and layed her head on my chest. I was holding her when I looked down and I saw her asleep on my chest. I kissed her forehead and before I knew it I was asleep too.

I had set an alarm for 5 o clock and as soon as it went off I silenced it so I didn't wake Laney up. Even after it went off I lay there for another 5 minutes to let her fall back asleep. Then I slide out of her arms and put a blanket on her. I took a quick shower and went to my closet. I wanted to treat Laney today so I wanted something nice. Her whole family was cowboys and cowgirls so I put on my American flag cowboy boots. I found some black jeans that I loved and put them on. I found a white button up shirt and put that on. Then I was deciding which hat I was gonna wear today when I saw my grandpa's old cowboy hat and put it on. It was a white Stetson and it fit my head perfectly. I tiptoed past Laney and went into the kitchen. I was gonna try to cook Laney's favorite breakfast. My mom was sitting on the couch watching TV with my dad so I asked if she could help me cause I have no idea how to cook. She walked into the kitchen and asked "So what are we making"
"Scrambled eggs with bacon and french toast."
"Okay, so we want to start with the bacon cause it will take the longest. Go get some bacon and eggs from the fridge." I opened up the fridge and grabbed everything. "Actually Haiden why don't you crack the eggs into a little dish with some milk and mix them up."
"Ok" Me and my mom cooked the food and I set it all up. Then I had to get her gifts ready. I had gotten her a lot of stuff. I got her merch from her favorite MX riders. I bought her MXON tickets, supercross tickets. Everything she wanted. But the biggest gift I got her was a brand new Yamaha YZ 450 F. Her 250 was nice but she had way to much skill to not be on a 450. I had the bike in the shop so I rode it out by the compound and I walked back to the house. When I got back Laney was awake. She was in my bathroom taking a shower. I sat on my bed scrolling through Tiktok while I waited for her. I would wait forever for her. Finally she opened the bathroom door. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun and she was wearing blue jeans, boots, and a Hailie Deegan shirt. I knew she did it to piss me off. "What the hell are you wearing?" I said jokingly. "What? Hailie and Chase are here for the weekend I'm supporting her!" She said laughing. I rolled my eyes and walked over to her and gave her a hug and a kiss. "Happy one year" I said. "Yep" she said.
"I have a surprise for you."
"Oh no."
"It's a good one I promise" I grabbed her hand and took her into the kitchen wear all the food was. "Oh Haiden you actually cooked?"
"Yep, all by myself" I said winking at my mom. "Wow." She said. Everybody ate then we went into my room. I went under my bed and handed her a big gift. She took it and opened it up. It was a new Alpinestars helmet. "Babe. This is awesome" she jumped up and hugged me. I gave her all her other stuff and she gave me the stuff she got me. "Okay, I have one more surprise. Come on" I took her outside and we hopped in the Can-Am X3. We drove out to the supercross tracks and I put a blindfold on her. I took her over by her new bike. "Ok are you ready?"
"Yes, Haiden. I swear if it's a microwave or something."
"A microwave? Ok. Its not a microwave. Ready? 3...2...1.."
I took off her blindfold and she saw the bike. It was a YZ450F with Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha graphics with the number 46 on it. "HAIDEN!!!!" She turned and looked at me and back at the bike. "Are you for real!?
"Hell yeah I am. That's your bike!" She jumped into my arms and I held her for a minute. I set her down, "Go look at it!" I said. We walked up to it and looked at the motor. She looked at me and said, "Dude... I love you Haiden." She gave me another hug. "You know what this means."
"What?"
"Now we gotta ride it." She looked at me and a big grin came across her face. I got in the Can-Am and we went back up to the house. We put on all our gear and got ready. She looked so beautiful in moto gear. She was wearing red and black Thor pants and jersey, all white Alpinestars boots, the new helmet I had given her, and some Oakley goggles. I took my bike off the stand and we rode to the supercross track. We rode and rode and Laney was getting more and more comfortable on the 450. She even hit the whoops at full speed. I decided to do some freestyle cause me and my dad had been working on it together. I pinned the throttle and hit the freestyle ramp. I did a superman. I hit the ground and I rode back to Laney. "Why have I never seen you do that?" She said. I just shrugged my shoulders. It was already 10 AM. "Wanna head back?" I said. "Yeah." We rode our bikes back to the shed and put them on stands. I told her that she can leave her bike here if she wants. My uncle, Sonny was still building their tracks at their house.
We both went inside and took quick showers. Then we got in the truck and I let Laney drive. We went to her parents house for a while then we went to Christian Craig's house. Laney and Paige were good friends, and Jagger, Lennon, and Madden loved me and Laney. Laney talked with Paige and me and Christian watched old MX footage. Around 2 we decided to leave the Craig's and go to the beach. We lay on the beach for a while and some fans came up when they recognized us. We talked with them for a while and signed autographs and took pictures with everyone. Around 5 we left there and went to Texas Roadhouse. We got done there and we went back to my house. Laney asked if she could stay over again and of course I said yes. We rode our 450s to her house cause she had to get her school stuff for the next day. When Warren heard 450s he walked outside. "Where'd you get that bike from, Laney?
"Haiden bought it for me!" I smiled at Warren and walked over to where they were standing. "Wow." Warren said. Warren and I stayed outside and talked about the bike while Laney grabbed her things. She walked out with two backpacks and handed me one asking if I could take it back when we went. I threw it on my back and we said goodbye to Warren. Tanner and Cheyenne came riding back from riding around the property and we waved at them. We got back home and went right to bed cause we were beat from the day. We fell asleep with Laney's head on my chest and my arms around her waist.
