Rayomi stretched her sore muscles and yawned into the dark silence of her dorm room. Shadows of tree branches danced in the beams of silver moonlight that shone on the walls and floor. She glanced back at her phone resting next to the pillow. She sighed at the sight of still no new messages. She was being restless and impatient. After all, it had only been half a day since he left for that mission. Still, there was a lump forming in her throat at the memory of his goodbye.

"It's just a simple mission, Ray." His dark hair glistened underneath the bright late summer sun as she wrapped her hand into it. The cold brick wall at her back kept her from melting under his body. "I'll be back soon."

She frowned and searched his face, the light smirk on his lips. "I know, Suguru." With a sigh she pulled his head to hers and kissed him. A deep, thoughtful gesture. When she pulled away, they both had a fire in their eyes. "I can still worry, can't I?"

Despite all the missions they have been on, Rayomi still worried. It would be different if she were going with him, but this mission called only for one. If Satoru were available, he probably would have been asked to go instead, since Suguru just got back from a mission. He hardly had any time to rest. Rayomi could have gone in his place as well, but she was already scheduled for a mission tomorrow morning.

His smile widened and he glanced down to her lips before returning his attention to her vibrant purple eyes. He brushed a lock of black hair away from her left cheek. "You would regardless of what I had to say about it," he teased. Before she could open her mouth to retort, he cupped her cheeks and drew her in for another deep kiss.

When he pulled away, she was panting. They had both been so busy lately that they hadn't had much alone time together, especially with the amount of solo missions he had been going on. If he didn't have to leave in a few minutes, she would have dragged him into the closest closet or even a secluded grove of trees and bushes. Rayomi pressed a hand to Suguru's chest, hard underneath his black uniform, and dragged one finger up. "A break, for the both of us, once we are done with our missions." It wasn't a question. They both needed a break, and have talked about it quite often. A reprieve from the school one of these weekends, hiding away in a cabin or nice hotel in the city.

He traced a finger along her jawline, eliciting a shiver down her spine. "I'll have our things packed when you return." His finger moved down her throat and she rested her head back against the wall. He exhaled, the sound reminiscent of a low growl. "I'll see you again, my love." His lips crashed into hers for a final goodbye.

Rayomi opened her lips, inviting his tongue to greet hers. He slid a hand along her back, fingers digging pleasantly into her skin. She did the same, her nails lightly scraping the back of his neck. And then, too soon for her liking, Suguru broke away, a coldness replacing his warm touch.

"Be safe, Suguru," Rayomi called as he moved toward the exit of the school grounds.

He turned and gave her a wink before waving and disappearing around the corner.

Rayomi could still feel the ghost of his touch. "He'll be fine," she said into the silence as she shook off any lingering feelings of unease. She stood from her bed and tied her hair back into a messy bun before slipping on her sandals and grabbing a book from the shelf. For as long as she has been fighting curses, Rayomi could never sleep properly before a mission. Even during their first year, when the missions were mostly field training. Suguru got into the habit of hanging out with her until she fell asleep. Tonight, however, it was just her. Although...

"Satoru should be back by now." She exited her room, the cool night air a clear sign that autumn is on its way. The school was strangely quiet she noticed as she slowly made her way to the next building where Satoru and Suguru's rooms were. Her face buried in the novel, she was only focused on the path.
