Golden sunlight filtered into her dorm room, through the window that sat above her head. It gleamed into her eyes, forcing her awake. She sighed and rolled over, facing the plain wall. She had a restless night, Gojo's words seemed to relish in playing on repeat. Umekiri had the odd sense that he knew what thoughts and emotions thundered through her mind as of late. And she also knew that if she wanted, he would listen to her spill all the troubling worries that plagued her. And he would listen without judgement.
Because that was how he had always been with her. There were so many times when she would call upon him and complain about life's hardships. And he would sit there and listen.
Her phone chimed, letting her know that it was time to get out of bed. She contemplated ignoring it and skipping first class, but she doubted Gojo would allow that. Knowing him, he would drag her out of her dorm in her pajamas.
Or he would bring class to her dorm.
That thought alone had her pulling off the blankets. She sat up and blinked away the tiredness. The sun cast a hazy glow over the tops of the trees. The scene seemed to beckon her outside, to explore the trails and mysteries of the school.
Perhaps after classes, she thought. She had always felt more at peace when she was outside. It could do her some good. Her body felt like it were still buzzing from everything that had happened. Like the trauma of what she witnessed--what she did--was still sitting at the forefront of her brain. Not that it was strange, she supposed, considering everything happened only a few weeks ago.
And that thought had her rubbing her face and standing. Her parents have only been dead for a few weeks. And here she was, starting at a school they didn't want her any part of. She stared blankly at the wardrobe and wondered if she should just walk away and never look back. Away from the school. And away from Gojo. He would scour the entire city to find her.
She sighed again and pulled out her uniform. The women had to wear a skirt, while the men could wear pants. She hated that. Skirts and dresses were never really her thing. But she yanked it on anyway.

Gojo had told her that she could arrive a few minutes late. So that he could inform her classmates of her arrival, no doubt. And knowing Gojo, he was boasting to them how great of a guy he is for training her beforehand. So none of her classmates would have to feel like they needed to go easy on her.
So...here she stood. At the closed door to the classroom, her hands formed into fists at her sides. If she walked in, there would absolutely be no backing out. If she showed her face to her peers, she could never allow herself to disappear.
She waited a moment for any panic or doubt. But none came. Instead, she felt an urge to enter, like everything that she ever wanted was on the other side. A stepping stone to her new life. Here, at Jujutsu University, she could make that first step to hunting down the hateful group of non-sorcerers. Learn how to conjure and control her cursed energy. That was her first step.
Umekiri gripped the handle to the door and slid it open. The sun blinded her as she did so. Once her eyes adjusted, she first saw Gojo leaning against the windows, his hands in his pockets. There was a pleased smile on his lips, like he knew she was struggling with actually coming in, and was happy to see that she conquered that internal debate.
The next thing she noticed was her four classmates. Despite a small class, the room was large, though only five desks sat in the front of it. The entire middle and back of the room was just empty floor. Her classmates all sat in their own small wooden desk, each set of eyes pinned at her. She stepped in and closed the door behind her.
