(I know it's kinda confusing but yes this is George's pov)

Nick and George were playing basketball at a court not too far from the school. I guess it was a more 'manly' way of talking about your feelings.

George aggressively passed the ball to Nick, who shot it at the hoop seconds later.

"He's being such an idiot. 'Love is bullshit' over and over again! Like we get it, you had some shitty experience but nobody actually cares." Nick passed the ball back to George, not saying anything yet.

"And then he does some dumb Valentines Day note like he didn't just give me a fucking essay on how love sucks!"

George shot the ball, and missed, leaving Nick to go grab it from rolling off the court. He took the long silence as an entrance for feedback.

"I dunno, I mean of course I agree but rumors suck either way. You both were being stupid."

"That's not true."

"Come on, it was like watching a kindergarten fight. You thought it was his fault, he thought it was your fault. When in reality your both to fucking blame."

Nick was staying relatively calm, just playing with the basketball while George stubbornly crossed his arms.

"Okay fine. Maybe we were both at fault. But I have questions too."

"Like what?" He swished the ball and smirked slightly, preparing for his next shot.

"Like the context on why you and Karl were kissing."

Nick let go of the ball, completely missing and hitting the rim, George grabbing it and looking straight at him.

"Look-"

"Dude, that's awesome."

Taken back by George's positive response, Nick tilted his head.

"What?" Nick stuttered. George smiled and passed him the ball.

"Oh go ahead and act like you haven't had the biggest crush on him for years."

"I don't know what you mean."

"Yeah okay."

"Hey, if we're on this topic, what about you and Clay? First big fight. Need some relationship counseling Gogy?"

This clearly pushed some buttons as George immediately flushed red.

"I don't know what you mean."

"Exactly." Nick bounced the ball and put it under his arm. George stayed silent.

"Let's head to my house. My mom made some awesome cookies last night."

After they locked eyes, they knew what was about to happen.

"RACE YOU!" George said, sprinting down the sidewalk with Nick right behind him, laughing.

-Time skip, COOKIESSSS-

"What's even in these?" George asked, mouth still half full from the chocolate chip cookie. Nick laughed.

"Love~"

"Oh shut up."

They both laughed, but suddenly both their phones started ringing. Confused, George went to the other room to answer his while Nick answered in the kitchen.

On the ringing screen was Clay's name. He sighed and tapped the green answer button.

"I'm sorry-"
"Look, I'm sorry-

They said it at the same time, and George laughed.

"You go first." He said. Clay sighed on the other side of the phone.

"I shouldn't have given you the note. It was stupid and just made an even bigger problem. I'm sorry, I really am."

George smiled at Clay's soft toned voice and the apology that came with it.

"I'm sorry too. I shouldn't have gotten all upset when people started saying things. It was my fault."

"No chance, it was mine."

"Clay come on, it was mine, period."

"George it was literally my fault-"

"I ruined everything, it was my fault."

"I yelled at you, it was my fault-"

"Oh my GOD- it was my fault!"

"GEORGE it was mine-"

A silence followed before they both burst out laughing. "We're so stupid."

"We really are- oh shit- Karl's coming back from the bathroom, I have to go."

"It's fine, I'll see you later."

"Bye."

"Bye. IT WAS MY FAUL-"

The call ended and George started laughing all over again. He didn't care that his heart was pounding in his chest, or that his face was flushed red, he just wanted this feeling to stay forever. But sadly, the feeling faded after a minute or two. He sighed and turned to leave the hallway when his phone buzzed.

I WAS GONNA SAY IT FIRST-

Too slow

He smirked and put his phone back into his pocket, walking into the kitchen where Nick was staring at his phone with the same face George had made only minutes before.

"Karl and Nick, sitting in a tree~"

"Shut up!"

George giggled and took one more cookie.

"I should really get going, but thanks for today."

"No problem dude."

"I'll see you tomorrow, k?"

"Duh, we have school George."

"I knew that." He didn't. In fact he checked his phone to confirm that it was actually Thursday instead of Friday.

After that he left Nick's house and walked home. But the whole time he was just daydreaming about how, for a day, he was actually Clay's Valentine. It made him smile every time.

Still bubbling inside just thinking about Clay, he unlocked the door.
