"I'm serious. You need a date. Come on, what about Jessica?""She's blonde."
"And when did you have anything against blondes, George?" Clay asked, jokingly elbowing his friend. George rolled his eyes, closing his locker and looking up at Clay."You're one to talk. I don't see anyone being your valentine."
"That's different, you know I'm boycotting Valentine's Day."
"Why? It's fun. Love is in the air~"
"Love is bullshit." Clay slammed his locker and waved a quick goodbye to George before storming off to his next class.
He never liked Valentine's day, and never would. It was just common knowledge. I mean, it obviously wasn't because nobody wanted to be his Valentine, girls were practically lining up to date him. Everybody just figured he wasn't into it and moved on.
George sighed, brushing his hair out of his eyes and walking to his class. He wished his friend wasn't so against love. What's so bad about it anyways? You meet someone you like, they might like you back, it's all fun and games anyways. No reason to take it so seriously.
He walked into Science, where Nick was waiting for him already.
"You or Clay got any dates yet? It's already the 13th."
"No. And we're not planning on it."
"You guys are gonna have to be each other's Valentines at this point!" They laughed and sat down at their seats.
-Time skip, after class-
George packed up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He walked to the door lazily, not knowing what was coming.
"BOO!"
"WHAT THE FUCK- CLAY OH MY GOD."Clay was doubled over laughing, and George smirked and blushed with embarrassment, lightly punching Clay in the arm before walking past him to lunch.
"Come on-" Clay was still barely getting words out through the laughter. "It was funny."
"Fuck off." George said playfully, smiling but not letting him see.
"You're a loser anyways." They laughed together as they walked to the cafeteria. Nick was talking to Karl at their normal spot when they walked in.
"Yo what took you so long? We were about to go get food without you." Nick complained. He was holding his car keys in his hand, letting the other two know he was serious. Clay scoffed.
"Dude we were like- five minutes late. And the more you talk the more we'll have to wait, let's go." He grabbed the keys from Nick's hands and brushed past him. George gave him a shrug and hurried to follow his friend, leaving Karl to bring Nick outside.
"You can be nice for once, you know. It's not deadly."
"You know what's deadly? Me not getting a big mac for lunch. Get in." George laughed lightly before getting into the passenger's side and waiting for the other two.
-Time skip, after school-
They were talking together in the Junior hall, laughing about George and Clay being each other's Valentines.
"Look, I always got a gay vibe off of both of you guys!" Nick said, laughing. George stood next to Clay, their height difference definitely showing but he didn't care. There was a question much more important to be answered.
"Karl who looks more gay?"
He snorted before looking both of them up and down. A wave of silence swept over the whole group, waiting for an answer. This was life or death.
"George."
"WHAT THE FUCK DUDE-"
"I KNEW IT! HE'S GAY FOR ME GUYS!!"
They all burst into laughter, and even George smiled a bit.
"You're an idiot." He said to nobody in particular, slinging his bag over his shoulder and walking down the hall.
"I'll see ya later Georgie!" Clay called out.
"Don't call me that."
"Byeeeeee!"
George smiled- not blushing though, he wasn't going to just submit to the whole 'you look gayer' thing. I mean, he's never liked girls. But he's never liked boys either, so the most likely explanation definitely isn't being gay. If anything he was just aro.
(Mini lesson with Minty lol: Aromantic, which just means lack of romantic attraction to anybody, and you don't feel like you need to be in a relationship to be happy. And that concludes the mini lesson with Minty)
Consumed with his thoughts, he had walked all the way to the parking lot where his mom was already there to pick him up.
"Hey sweetie. How was school?" George shrugged and closed the car door.
"Well my friends called me gay." He smiled at how Clay laughed when Karl said his name.
"That's nice."
He mainly just stared out the window for the whole drive. Watching cars pass and trees gently sway in the wind. It was peaceful, but he'd seen it all before.
"Okay I need to go to the store, so do your homework and stuff. I'll be back in an hour to make dinner."
"Okay mom, love you." George shut the door and walked up the porch steps. His mom pulled out of the driveway and took a right to head to Publix. His stomach twisted even thinking about all the homework he had. But no more procrastinating. He was gonna do it today, and that was final. 100%. No backing out this time.
-
"Hey don't you have homework?" Clay asked over the discord call.
"Nah. You?"
"I already did mine."Wow, keep this up and maybe you won't fail science."
"Shut up."
George giggled, laying on his bed with the light off. It was dark. Maybe around 9 pm. His phone was laying face down on the bed next to him on a discord voice call with Clay. He secretly loved these little conversations, smiling goofily at the ceiling as he heard his voice.
After a long moment of silence, Clay spoke up.
"Valentine's day is tomorrow right?" His stomach dropped at the thought.
"Yeah."
"We can boycott it together."
"Look, I'm all for watching netflix alone and not giving a fuck about it, but I'm not gonna pretend it doesn't exist. It's a holiday for love. Just give it a shot."
"I've given it ten shots and every time I end up hurt" He stopped before anything else slipped.
"What? Clay??"
The call ended, and George sighed and closed his eyes. He never liked crossing lines, especially with his best friend. Maybe it's for the best if they both had a breather. Valentine's day was tomorrow. And neither of them had dates, which was the opposite of what the whole grade expected from the two boys.
Tomorrow, undoubtedly, was gonna be torture.
Hey! Hope you liked this chapter, have an awesome wonderful day!! <3
