CHAPTER TWO
(! a not so happy halloween party !)*3 days later.
MADELYN POV"Why are we here?" I ask my sister as we're walking up towards a random girl's house. "I thought you didn't like Halloween."
"I don't, but I do like parties." Alora grins as she opens the front door. "Now let's go get some drinks so you can loosen up a bit, yeah?"
I roll my eyes. "Mhm, sure. Why not?"
Alora and I make our way to the kitchen, and I almost immediately grab a bottle of beer, opening it before chugging the entire thing.
"Rough day?" Alora asks as I throw the empty bottle away, and I just flip her off. "How about I make your next drink?"
"As long as you make it strong."
Alora hands me a red, plastic cup a few moments later, a light grin present on her face. "Here, it's my specialty."
I glance down at the drink with my eyebrow raised high. "Should I be scared?"
Alora just shrugs. "Well, that depends on how well you can handle your alcohol."

It's been about two hours since Alora and I got to this stupid party, and it's safe to say that I'm officially drunk.
Alora ran off about thirty minutes ago because she thought she saw Eddie in the crowd, and I've been looking for her ever since.
As I'm walking out of the kitchen while chugging yet another drink, I hear a familiar voice.
"Woah there, rough day sweetheart?"
I turn around, coming face to face with the person I thought I'd never see again.
"Billy?" I ask, nearly losing the grip I have on my drink.
"Maddie?"
"What th-the fuck are you doing here?" I ask, lightly poking Billy's chest.
"I got invited, obviously." Billy replies, and I just roll my eyes.
"I meant in Hawkins, d-dumbass. What are you doing in Hawkins?"
"I live here now sweet cheeks, I told you back in California that I was moving out of state." Billy tells me, crossing his arms. "What are you doing here?"
I shake my head. "It doesn't matter, I'm leaving now."
I go to walk away, but Billy grabs my arm.
"We aren't done talking yet Madelyn."
I yank my arm out of Billy's grip, resisting the urge to throw what's left of my drink in the tall blonde's face. "Need I remind you that you're the one that broke up with me, not the other way around. I said I'm leaving now, and I meant it."
I'm barely able to make it past the house's front steps before I'm puking up everything in my stomach, the alcohol I've drank over the course of the past few hours causing my throat to burn.
"Hey, you alright?"
As I'm wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, I look up to see a guy dressed like Tom Cruise from the movie Risky Business making his way towards me.
I nod, running a hand through my hair. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?" The guy asks, sitting down on the steps next to me. "You seem pretty upset."
"Well I just ran into my ex boyfriend from California, so..." I trail off, grabbing a cigarette out of the pack in my jacket pocket. "Of course we both end up moving here, it's just my luck."
"Well I can confidently say that whoever your ex must be is a total idiot to give up a pretty girl such as yourself." The guy tells me, which causes me to smile softly as I blow out smoke. "I'm Steve Harrington."
"Maddie Cahill, it's nice to meet you Steve." I say, and Steve raises his eyebrow.
"Your Alora's sister, aren't you?" Steve asks, and I nod. "She's been looking for you for almost an hour now."
"I've been looking for her for the past thirty minutes!" I groan, causing Steve to laugh. "Where did you last see Alora?"
"Maddie, is that you?"
Steve and I turn around slightly, seeing Alora standing on the front porch behind us.
"Where have you been?" I ask Alora, blowing cigarette smoke out of my nose. "You straight up pulled a disappearing act."
"It's a long story, I'll tell you about it later." Alora replies, waving her hand dismissively. "Steve, I hope your treating my sister well."
Steve lets out a quiet chuckle. "Of course, I'm nothing short of a gentleman."
"Well considering you knocked punch down the front of your girlfriend's white dress, I highly doubt that statement." Alora retorts, causing me to raise an eyebrow while looking over at Steve.
"You have a girlfriend?"
