Jimin stood in the doorway of the house taking in the sight of the lavishly decorated home. A chandelier of crystals hung from the tall ceiling and reflected white light. A pair of dark wood staircases curved around the sides of the entrance hall and connected at the top to form a balcony. Standing on the balcony, with his hand laid on the railing, was a tall, broad-shouldered man.
"Aren't you gorgeous?" the man said.
Jimin felt his heart skip a beat.
The man stared down at him with a mischievous glint in his dark brown eyes. He had high cheekbones with a pair of thick pink lips. His black hair was feathery due to its length and curled at the nape of his neck. The man wore a black turtleneck shirt that fit snugly over his body. A pair of silver earrings dangled from his ears.
"Yes, I'm talking to you," he continued, making eye contact with Jimin.
Jimin flushed and ducked his head, fighting the urge to throw himself back onto the front steps in embarrassment. "Sure."
Namjoon walked into the house with ease. Hoseok waved to the man on the balcony, sticking to Jimin's side outside the house, "This is Jimin! Jimin, this is Kim Seokjin, or Jin for short."
His stomach flipped when he met Jin's gaze again.
The oldest vampire in their coven.
"Are you sure you didn't single him out, Joon? Or did we just get lucky?" Jin continued in a teasing yet calm tone.
Namjoon shot him a look of annoyance. "Stop that or else. You're scaring him, and creeping me out."
Jin grinned. "Or else what, darling?"
Namjoon stared, "Don't darling me."
Hoseok patted Jimin's shoulder with a reassuring look. "Pay no attention to them. They love to bicker. I think it's their favorite pastime."
Seokjin began to descend the grand staircase. "You're cute when you're angry. But I'll save you for later." He looked at Jimin again with curiosity. "Welcome to our home, Jimin. It's nice to meet you."
Something within Jimin's chest relaxed at his words. He wasn't sure why. His legs unstuck from the entry mat and he walked forward. He entered the house of the vampires with surprising ease.
He knew he should feel afraid. They were vampires. They drank the blood of humans to survive and live forever. Yet his fear had turned into silent horror as he realized that he too was a vampire. His brain has yet to unpack that fact.
"Nice to meet you too," Jimin replied.
Yoongi emerged from the room beside the foray with a messenger bag on his shoulder. He shared a look with Hoseok, "I have it here for when he's ready."
Hoseok nodded and turned to Jimin. "Let's go to the parlor. Taehyung and Jungkook should be down in a minute."
"There's a parlor?" Jimin echoed.
Hoseok laughed. "It's a nice house, yes. It's just a sitting room. Come this way."
They walked to the beautifully carved wooden door that sat opposite where Yoongi came from. Namjoon opened the door and went in first. Jimin stepped inside and realized the parlor meant exactly what Hoseok said.
It was a large room with sets of Italian leather white couches spread around it. There were other styles of couches and chairs with dark fabric with others covered with a throw blanket or two. There were dark wooden side tables beside a few of the sitting chairs and one near the tall window. One wall was covered with a layer of books. The books were a mixture of aged, leather, and colorful modern covers. There was also a white brick fireplace with a mantle decorated with small figurines of whales and sea creatures. It looked like a perfect place to curl up during a lazy afternoon.
