I stared blankly up at him. I'd met a lot of ancient powers in my short lifetime, but never so much as the creator of the universe himself.

Panicking, I said the first thing on my mind:

"Uh, that's cool."

What?!

But Lord Chaos responded only with more laughter. "That's not the usual response."

"What did you mean, about me being dead?" I questioned, choosing to ignore the crazier stuff. Sorry, I know, just met the creator of the universe, but at the moment I was more concerned about the fact that I might or might not be dead.

"Percy, I've been watching over you for a long time. When you died, I realized that I could not let the world lose it's greatest saviour. I pulled you back from death and healed your wounds, for I want you to join forces with me and become more powerful than you could ever imagine. I need - the world needs a hero now more than ever before. There are ancient forces at work more powerful than even Mother Earth herself. Will you join with me?"

His words hung in the air. My mouth turned dry, and my hands began to shake softly at my sides.

Join Lord Chaos?

I rose slowly, glancing behind me. Smoke drifted upwards from the braziers at camp, where the demigods would be sacrificing food to the gods. I was no longer welcome there, nor anywhere else. Remembering my promise to act revenge upon Troy and everyone else who had caused Hazel, Jason and Nico to die, I turned back towards Lord Chaos.

"Yes."
