Annabeth's eyes grew bigger than the moon herself, a pale hand darting to cover her gaping mouth as a little gasp escaped. "P - Percy?!"
I didn't know whether to embrace her, or run away. Right now, a little animal inside of me told me to sprint, hide, avoid all this conflict. But I forced myself to stay. She deserved at least that much.
I nodded, pursing my lips. "Yeah. Me."
"Oh my gods. Percy, I'm so, so sorry. I hated myself for two years -- I still do -- and I know you'll never forgive me, but I just need to apologize for all of the deplorable things I did --" She paused when she saw me chuckling. "What?"
"It's just, I've missed you, Annabeth. I've missed you so much. I missed the way you looked when you were thinking hard, and when you were ready to fight, and all of the times you used big words I didn't understand, like you just did. Seriously, deplorable? People actually use that in their everyday speech?" I smiled a crooked grin.
"Oh, Percy." She muttered, hugging herself. We stood that way for a quiet minute, each not daring to look at each other or speak, but reveling in the comforting silence. However, Annabeth was Annabeth, and she couldn't stay mute for long. "What happened? Where did you go? How did you become part of Chaos's army?" The barrage of questions stunned me, and I took a minute to sort out the answers.
"He took me to his realm -- I'll explain that later -- and trained me and the others. He gave me powers beyond the gods, as you undoubtedly saw in the arena. But, of course that didn't come without a catch. Long ago, the Oracle told Lord Chaos that the warrior with the wings" -- at this, I opened my wings to expand widely -- "would deliver unforeseen destruction, but great peace, to the realms of Chaos and Order. And so I became Omega." I bit back the rest of my words, deciding not to tell Annabeth that I had, in fact died, and that she had played a part in it.
Annabeth pondered over this. "Order. Chaos's brother, right? He controls our realm, and only gives power to some. And in the realm of Chaos, magic flows freely for all, though there are not many invited into his realm. Only for the select few. Like you."
It was my turn to widen my eyes. "How did you know all that?"
Smirking, she took a step towards me. "I'm your Wise Girl, remember?"
I closed the gap between us. "And I'm your Seaweed Brain."
And we kissed.
