Bucky pushed the door open with his foot, gently supporting me to walk into the house.
'Mom,' Emily said softly, and I barely registered her melt into my side. I kissed her forehead tenderly.
'I'm okay, Em. I'm okay. Just tired.' I heard my other children come near me and I disengaged from Bucky to hug each of them in turn. 'I'm so sorry, my beautiful babies. I really am. I'm sorry for not saying goodbye.'
'Are you still Mommy?' my youngest, Phoenix, asked. I stroked his fluffy brown hair out of his face.
'Yes, my boy, I'm still Mommy. I'm okay now.' I stumbled slightly, my knees buckling, and Bucky reattached himself to my side again, grabbing me in order to support me before I fell to the floor. He ushered me to the stairs and helped me walk up slowly. Two hours later, after a long bath, he helped me lay down in the bed, placing the covers over me. I let out soft breaths, my eyes closing momentarily as he sat on the edge of my bed.
'I'm so glad you're home, my love,' he said tenderly, stroking my cheek with the back of his hand. I smiled up at him weakly. '
'I know. Me too.' He leaned forward and kissed me tenderly, and I gladly reciprocated the kiss. Softly, he placed another gentle peck on my lips. 'I love you, Adelaide.'
'I love you too, James.' I rolled over, burying myself in the covers and falling fast asleep, the only thing that was indicating my restfulness was my soft breathing filling the room.
Sorry it's such a short epilogue!! I wanted to keep it short and sweet for the last two bits of my story. Just in case anyone is wondering what Blade has to do with this series, I've got two reasons for you. One: he is a vampire hunter. And two: the new Blade movie is releasing in late 2024. I'm going to frame either a fourth "You Better Not be Her Prey" story around the film, or a "White Phoenix" story around it. Anywho, stay tuned!! I'm also going to be doing fanfics of The Thunderbolts movie and Captain America 4. I'm really excited for both of those.
I'm planning as well to make a House of the Dragon fanfic with Aemond Targaryen as the love interest, which I want to create after I finish my fanfics for Seasons 4 and 5 of The Originals.
