Haze

Mariah Carey, the smell of pine, weed... and a vodka cranberry. What a glorious combination that ive associated with only one thing. Beatrices annual holiday kickoff party, November 1st. Shes set to have many more extravagant parties until January 1st, New Years day. I guess you could say she was a psycho for all things cheerful and merry, while most of us were drunk off our asses in wild costumes Bea had made her prompt exit to start decorating for a premature start of Christmastime. It's one of the things I l liked about her.

In the few years that I've known Bea I thought she just wanted an excuse to party one more day, or throughout the holidays but I've come to realize, she genuinely loved Christmas, the holidays but her parties were quite fun. Considering her guest list that is. Her bubbly personality and confidence has landed her in the heart of the LA celebrity scene.

She at the age 26 has established her place in the music industry as a branding agent. When she's not working or managing clients shes known for her holiday parties, giving the stars something to look forward to besides meetings, work and gigs. But an invite to this specific party, being the first of the 6, was for a tighter circle, to show appreciation and have a more laid back time to start her party season. It was only down hill from there...

"Haze? Help me in the kitchen?" Bea asks me making her way through the crowd, greeting people and making quick small talk.

"Yeah sure." i answer setting down my glass of vodka and cranberry juice that I was sipping on. Her house was still packed despite it being a smaller list tonight. This was not my first rodeo, so I knew what to expect at this point, but it never ceases to amaze just how many famous, or high status people she knows and are friends with Bea.

She converses with them so easily, blends in effortlessly while I make my way around stiff and unsure how to join conversations.

The thing is I love talking, I love meeting new people but I find it difficult initiate greetings and introductions without feeling like im intruding. so I end up walking around or just sipping on my vodka cranberry and just observing the crowd, listening to the hum of conversation, the music playing creating an overall holiday vibe and feel in the room.

Beas parties were a mix of elegance and chaos, it was organized. she knew how to get people to have a good time, the lights were dim enough to grant sight throughout the room but dark enough to promote discretion. the music was high enough to mask uncomfortable silence and low enough for groups to form and actually hold a conversation. it was slightly foggy, creating a haze that only adds to the ambiance, it was a good party but why wasn't I enjoying it?

I weave through people smiling and adjusting my hair. when I walk into the kitchen im met with a table full of finger foods, empty shot glasses and cookie dough that was sitting in a bowl still.

"Woah Bea, where is your wait staff? didn't you hire like 5 people?" she turns around and presses the back of her hand to her head in distress.

"they are stuck on the 405 for the next hour or so, I tried to do this by myself but I'm just not able to do it alone, can you please help, Ni and them will be here to help us here soon but for right now it's just me and you babe?" she begs shaking her head at the mess she needs to sort out.

Ni being her Friend with benefits, Niall Horan and his posse of guys that are almost always with him. I didn't mind him, he was a cool guy, just not one id purposely be around for more than 7 minutes. I timed it once and within those 7 minutes either a douchy or childish thing leaves his mouth and I instantly get agitated. He's been around for  while now and we just banter like siblings at this point.

I hate to say it but he's kinda grown on me. I just wonder how long Bea is gonna keep him around

"please H?" she begs again knowing my hesitation.
