The bed was incredibly cold without her- perhaps that was why he woke up so late that night. Ven rolled his body over so he was laying face down in Sabrina's bed. It always had the faintest hint of lavender to it.
"Sabi..." Ven whined into the pillow. "Where'd you go?"
There wasn't an answer. Curious now, Ven moved his head to the left. She wasn't in that direction, so he turned his head to the right. A relieved sigh escaped his lips at seeing her by the window.
Ven got comfortable again as he simply admired her. She looked so ethereal in the moonlight. The light framed her hair like a halo, the paleness making her own skin look almost pearl white. If Ven didn't know any better, he almost would have assumed that he was still asleep. Another fleeting thought and he thought she was Snow White instead. That line of thought woke him up quite a bit. Where did it even come from?
Figuring that this was any time as any to get up, Ven worked his body upward and gave a yawning stretch. Sabrina still did not react. Her attention was far too focused on something outside. It wasn't the first time he'd seen her so focused that she completely ignored everything else around her, but what could have been so interesting outside at this hour?
Ven got out of the bed with another groan, then moved over to Sabrina's side. He brushed his hand against hers before placing his head on her shoulder. It got the tiniest bit of movement from her -her finger daring to lace around one of his before deciding against it-, otherwise she remained still.
"It's late." Ven mumbled as he buried his face in her shoulder. "Go back to bed."
"Something's wrong."
The knight immediately lifted his head back up. His mouth formed a rather sincere pout as he questioned, "With us?"
Sabrina's face immediately twisted into disgust.
"No, you moron." she immediately spat. She pointed up at the sky before telling him, "Look."
He obeyed her simple instruction, looking up at the stars. And that was when he saw it. A star started to blink in and out of existence for a moment then, in one last act of desperation, glowed twice as bright before going out completely.
"It's not a supernova." Sabrina darkly said. "It's a world falling to darkness."
A part of him wanted to question how she'd know that. The other part of him knew it was because she was incredibly perceptive when it came to hearts. Especially those that belonged to worlds. A little lesson or two from books Mickey had 'borrowed' from Yen Sid also helped.
"It's not the first world that has fallen recently either." Sabrina then told him. "That one proved to be the seventh I've noticed."
"You think there are more?"
"Call it a hunch."
Ven nodded. He looked back up at the stars with a renewed interest. His fingers danced in between Sabrina's as he thought things over.
"Can we do anything about it?" he asked, turning to her.
Sabrina gave a soft snort. "Of course that's your first reaction..." she mumbled to herself. With a shake of her head, she instead said to him, "I don't know. But every time I see it, I think about this world. My world. What if we're next?"
This time, Ven completely laced his fingers into hers and held on tightly.
"You wouldn't let that happen. We wouldn't let that happen. You have my word."
Sabrina gave a thin smile.
"I hate when you're determined." she informed him. "Everything about you just changes and it's annoying."
