The morning after the funeral Viserys was told his brothers had spent the night celebrating the death of Baelon, in a brothel. This enraged Viserys. Of course, he knew it was most likely led by Daemon. Viserys had always loved and cherished Aegon. Perhaps it was the fact that when Aegon was young, Viserys was reminded of himself. Aegon never promoted war or confrontation. He was peaceful. Viserys knew his brother had been changed. He was no longer Aegon the Little Boy.
Aegon’s confrontation with his brother was less formal than Daemon’s, because of Viserys' pity and love for him. Aegon was called into the Small Council chambers, where only Viserys had sat. “You sent for me, Brother?” Viserys nodded, “I heard some disturbing news." Viserys looked down at the table and back at Aegon. "Did you follow your brother into a brothel last night?” Aegon laughed, “I don’t see why my personal matters are of any importance to you, Brother.” Viserys slammed his fist on the table, “You will address me as Your Grace and you will answer my question!” He had let his rage take over.
Aegon bowed his head and said plainly, “Yes. I did…Your Grace.” “And is it true?” Aegon rolled his eyes, “Is what true?” ““The Heir For a Day!”” Viserys looked down at his fist, still clenched on the table, “Did your brother say it?” He looked up at his youngest brother, “Did you say it?” Aegon folded his hands behind his back, he hesitated. He did not want Daemon to suffer but he could not afford to suffer either. “I did not.” “And Daemon?” “I cannot say that he did not, Your Grace.” “And it was a celebration?” Aegon knew the consequences Daemon could and out of love for his brother, he tried to make Viserys see his brother’s good side. “For some. I do believe, Daemon was just grieving in his own way, Brother.” Viserys listened to his brother’s words carefully and the thought of cutting out Daemon’s toungue slowly dissappeared. Viserys stood, “What happened to my sweet, peaceful little brother? Hm?” He walked to Aegon, “Is it my fault? Did sending you with Daemon make you this way?” Viserys placed a hand on Aegon’s shoulder. As Aegon spoke, he placed his hand on Viserys shoulder, “I have not-" He stopped. Aegon had changed. He might not have wanted to acknowledge it but he had. "Daemon made me strong, he showed me I can take what I want." He looked into Viserys eyes. All he saw was pain. "I have a conquerors name, Viserys. I’m supposed to conquer. Your sweet and peaceful brother saw the world for what it is. A dark and nasty place." Aegon saw the pain grow stronger at his words. "I assure you the Aegon you knew is still somewhere inside of me.” Viserys looked at his brother pitifly, “I hope you’re right.” Viserys patted his brother on the shoulder, went to leave and stopped, “You should know, I’ve decided to name a new heir.” Aegon turned to his brother, who still faced the door. “Daemon’s your heir, I after him.” Viserys turned, “Not anymore.” “Pray tell why?” “Daemon cannot be trusted and I am afraid you are following in his path.” It hurt Viserys to say such words but they were true. What Aegon had said saved his ass. Aegon was allowed to stay in King’s Landing. Maybe it was him appealing Daemon or him saying there was a part of the old Aegon left. Either way, Aegon would be allowed to stay while Daemon would be exiled.
