Slowly my eyes open from my restless slumber. I gaze at my clock reading it's 8:19am, it's early morning and today's the first day of the Fall Festival in town.

I push myself out of bed and and get dressed I put on a pair of blue jeans and a brown long sleeve shirt before I leave my room I gaze out my window.

'it snowed quite a bit last night' I think to myself looking down at the yard there's nearly a foot of snow.

I walk across my room a pull my little heater out of my closet and plug it in and in no time my cold wooden floor warms up, satisfied I leave my room to eat breakfast.

As I enter the kitchen I see my mother and sister sitting at the table eating toast and eggs.

"Good morning" I say as I take a seat with a plate of my own.

" Dad head to work already?" I ask while munching on some toast.

"yes he left and hour ago and should be home tonight for dinner I plan on making something special tonight in celebration for the fall festival, sound good?" she asks causing me smile.

"of course what time did you want me and Lisa to be home at?" I ask looking up from my plate of food.

"ide say at about 7:30 the food should be done so be home at 7:15 so you two don't freeze in the cold okay" she says

"Sure no problem mom" I say as I get up finished eating I look over to Lisa

"hay you should go and get ready to leave okay I'll meet you on the porch" she smiles and runs upstairs to get her jacket and snow boots.

Five minutes pass as I stand waiting on the porch. Its definitely gotten colder I can see my breath now I checked my phone it says it's 24°F. Rubbing my hands together in an attempt to try and warm them as Lisa walks out the front door.

"You ready?" I ask while blowing warm air on my hands she smiles at me.

"Let's go I can't wait to see the fireworks later and I want us to be the first ones their so we can get the best seats!" She grins while pulling me down off the porch and we head off to the festival.

"Don't worry about finding a spot Nathan and Matt already have one picked out so let's just focus on havening fun ok" I say smile as we walk down the sidewalk.

As we walk into the park I notice more people got here earlier than I thought, I guess people really wanted to see the fireworks. As we're walking through the booths and people we end up seeing two familiar faces. It was Matt and Nathan, they were standing at a booth and Nathan was trying to throw plastic rings around......a knife?. Me and Lisa start to walk over to them and I start to overhear Nathan and Mat talking about something.

"Dude look at that one it would be so cool if I can win it but I'm out of cash shit!" Mat looks over to him with a bord expression.

" you've been at this for over an hour lets do something else we haven't even looked at any of the other booths yet" Matt says while frowning.

"what's he whining about?" I ask as me and Lisa walk up to them Matt turns to me and smiles .

"oh sup David?!, what you were hearing was this guy trying to win a knife in this game of ring toss but he sucks and waisted all his money on it" I look over at the game and Nathan turns to us and explains how it works.

" ya need to throw one of those red rings around the grip of the knife you want to win, but their super small and the knifes hilts are to big it's a freaking scam I tell ya" he says while folding his arms. I chuckle at his misfortune as Im laughing Nathan sees Lisa.
