Dustin was a cute little old man. He wore one pair of glasses on top of his head, another on his face, and another draped around his neck from a chain. He wore a big, over sized brown sweater, plaid shirt, loafers and khakis. He was a bit short, still taller than Mel, but most people were. He smelled of old spice and had a day's worth of white stubble on his face. His full head of white hair looked like he tried to tame it a second ago and wasn't successful.
"Hey, Dustin, this is Mel." James said slightly louder than he normally spoke.
"Nice to meet you, Dustin," Mel held out her hand. James let her hand go and moved it to the small of her back. She straightened up quickly but relaxed into it a half second later.
Dustin took Mel's hand with both of his shook it then kissed her knuckles. A slight blush grazed Mel's cheeks.
"Now, let's step into my office," Dustin began and led the way. James hand remained on the small of her back as Dustin guided them through a maze of small hallways and corridors that she was sure she would never remember how to find their way back. What seemed like an eternity, they came to a lab that held different works all in the process of being repaired. Dustin showed Mel a stool to sit in by a large table. A piece was already laid out on it. Dustin explained the chemical processes they were doing on the work to repair it. Mel asked questions along the way. She even gave Dustin some alternative ideas on how to fix certain areas that would be more cost effective and last longer. James merely smiled quietly to himself, not saying a word. He started to walk around the lab looking at different items. Curiosity always killed the cat.
"James get over here before you break something." Dustin said, a little jokingly, but still serious. Just as those words left his mouth, a few things were knocked over, luckily nothing important. "He is such a disaster." Dustin added with a roll of his eyes.
"Why don't you come over here? Look at this." Mel giggled. He walked over to her and stood behind her stool. Her sweater made a small gap exposing her back and her jeans did that pucker out thing that women's jeans love to do. He placed one hand on either side of her on the counter enclosing her. He rested his chin on her right shoulder and inhaled deeply. Ginger. He had to find out her soap, perfume, and shampoo that smelled so good. He would make sure he would have it available for her when she started staying over. What? Why did my mind go there, he thought. Because, she's just want you wanted and needed. He gave her a pouty, sad puppy dog look. She pushed against him with her head.
"Look, this is so interesting how the two areas merge together, however if we add this solution it creates a stronger binder than the original and keeps the colors true to what the artist originally wanted." James started to rub small circles with his thumb in the small of her back, it was small intimate and arousing. She didn't pull away but she didn't lean into it as much as he hoped either.
She could tell he was getting bored and noticed they had been there for hours. She was sure he was getting hungry, she was a little peckish herself. "Oh my look how late it is, Dustin thank you so much but we have been using up so much of your time today."
"No problem, you were an absolute delight compared to this bull in a china shop."
"It's late, did you have plans for dinner Dustin, let us repay you by taking you out for something," Mel added. James was behind him trying to tell him no, don't. Signing he wanted Mel all to himself.
"No, my wife is probably wondering where I gotten off to, she will be quite jealous to hear I've been here entertaining James without her." With that Dustin, grabbed both of her hands and kissed her knuckles causing her to blush. "Please come back again. You were an absolute pleasure."
Again, they went through the labyrinth of hallways and passages until coming the door they entered by. When they got to the door it was pouring rain. Neither one had brought an umbrella. Mel looked at James with a twinkle in her eye, "On the count of three. 1, 2, 3!" And rain out the door towards the nearest awning.
"Oh Bucky, she is wonderful, a real keeper. If I weren't so old, well you know how it goes.....". Dustin began.
"The more I'm with her the more I don't want to be without her." James said as he ran out in the rain.
