She snoozed peacefully, in her bed in his arms. When she awoke, it was dark. She thought she was dreaming but looked and he was still there, naked next to her. She was sore in her core, so what actually happened happened. His stomach growled.
"Hungry?" She asked. "Do you want to eat out or eat in?"
"Depends on how sore you are? I'm thinking eating out though. Stay here, I'm going to head back to my place get a change of clothes and meet you back here. I'll try not to be long. Stay in bed for a bit more." He said as she kissed her on the forehead. She kissed each of his fingers and laid his hand on her cheek kissing the palm last. The tenderness of that last kiss could last him eternity if he needed it to.
"I hate that you are leaving. I want you all to myself." She stated.
"It will only be a little while, promise." He said winking at her. "I also want you to get a few things together for me to take back to my place for when you stay over. I know sometimes I might be away for awhile, coming home to you there would definitely be a great deal off my mind."
"This can be your retreat from there, when you need a break. Or we could go the the lake house. It is really quiet up there."
"Lake house?"
"Remember, rich adoptive parents. Umm one other thing, I'm a widow. My husband left me a lot as well."
"Widow, oh darling."
"We will talk about that later." She said as she gave him a look of warning. She didn't want a downer on the evening. If she started talking about Eric, the spell would be broken, she would wake up alone, and James would never had come into her life, she thought.
She watched him as he dressed, giving a kind of reversed strip tease. She giggled and threw a pillow at him. Mel stretched out long and all the way to her toes, giving a moan of satisfaction.
She waited a bit after the front door closed. Then got to work getting a bag together for him to take back and herself together. She chose a shift dress, a pair of tights and booties, paired with a cardigan. Into the overnight bag, she threw a few pairs of shoes, socks, cute panties, super cute lacey bras, a few long sleeve shirts, a pair of dress slacks, a pair of jeans, a button down, a few pairs of earrings. She then made the bed and walked out to the living room. She sat in the big window seat looking out. She laid on her stomach and had a book in front of her reading.
A rap came from the door, she went to open it. There he was looking wonderful, he reached down and kissed her.
"Ready?" He asked.
"Ready."
"Something's missing." He looked down at her and tsked.
"What?" She had everything she needed.
"Allow me," he took her waist in his hands and spun her around. He placed a necklace with a single bead around her neck and clasped it.
"This is a Kimoyo bead. They are from Wakanda."
"Let me see in the mirror," she asked a twinkle in her eye. "Oh James, it's lovely. But I have nothing for you." She pouted.
"What are you talking about, you just gave me everything I could ever asked for in one evening. The heart of a good woman is worth more than anything anyone could ever give me."
She bit her bottom lip, she wasn't so sure she was so good.
"Tomorrow is Sunday," he began, "Let's get some dinner, shoot some pool, see where the night takes us. Sleep in tomorrow."
"Ugh, tomorrow, I have so much to prep for Monday's classes, don't remind me."
"What are you talking about?"
"Some of us have regular jobs."
"No, the doctor said you needed some rest and if I have to strap you down, you will get some rest tomorrow."
"Is that a promise or a threat?"
"Maybe a little of both." He winked at her. "Oh and happy birthday."
"It's not my birthday," she said.
"Really, how would you know." He teased, "Let me treat you like you deserve to be treated."
"Thank you."
As they were leaving the building, if they would had looked up, they would have seen a red and gold figure of a man standing of the roof looking down at them.
James opened the door to the car and made sure she got in and clicked her belt. Then he walked around to the other side. She reached over and unlocked the door for him.
"I knew you were a keeper." He said as he kissed her hand. She giggled.
