James returns home

Riley: You okay? You're sweating as if you ran a mile. James: Yeah, it's nothing. It's just a bit hot out there. Riley: Ookay.

James sits on the couch and rubs his eyes

Near the outskirts of the city, Will and Johnny are overlooking the city and a hill

Johnny: What's the plan? There's always too many people and we haven't been able to follow her home? Will: Plan has changed.  We're going to have to snatch her in daylight. We'll be long gone before anyone could do something. Johnny: When do we move? Will: Tomorrow. She's a loner so it's not going to be difficult.

The next day during lunch, Will and Johnny are looking at Linda

Will: Let's go

James is sitting down outside studying for the state competition

Watson: Studying hard or hardly studying? James: Funny. This isn't that tough. I have a good feeling about the state competition. Watson: Everyone's going to be there from a bunch of different schools and cities. High schoolers, middle schoolers. James: Oh so I have the middle school stuff. Watson: Yeah. I'll leave you to it. Ian: Sup Watson. James: Sup guys.

Ian, Jared, Leia and Briana go up to  sit with James

James: You guys are like my ducklings aren't you? Ian: I can't sit with my step brother? James: Alright, alright.

James puts his booklet away

James: What's up guys. Linda: Hi.

They look and see Linda

Leia: Hi. Linda: Mind if I sit with guys? Leia: Go ahead!

Will and Johnny stop right before they hop the fence when they see Linda with people

Johnny: Whoa, hold it. Will: What? Johnny: She's not alone.

Will sees Linda with James and them

Will: Damn! Johnny: What now? Will: Let's go before someone sees us.

They flee

Back with James they all introduce themselves

Linda: I talked with Briana yesterday, she said I could come hang out with you guys and you all seem like a fun bunch so I figured why not? James: Well glad to have you with us in our little friend group. We're a mixed group sort off, Ian's in 8th grade, the rest of us are in 7th. Linda: Me too. In 8th grade, I mean. Leia: So Linda. How long have you been here for? Linda: I actually just transferred over. Leia: Really? From where? Linda:.. Georgia. Briana: All the way from over there? Linda: Yeah. Briana: Why? Linda: My parents got a job over here. Leia: Doing? Linda: Construction. Leia: Oh.

James is taken a back a bit

Ian looks away confused

Leia: So how are you liking it over here? Linda: The weather is nice, it's a lot more cooler than Georgia. I really like the view of the mountains. Leia: Yeah, the Sierra Nevada Mountains are pretty nice. Ian: How long are you staying here for? Linda: I don't know. I don't know if I'll ever go back honestly. James: Your parents are that good at construction? Linda: Yeah.

Later James and Ian are walking together in between periods

James: She's hiding something, or at least not saying the whole truth. Ian: You caught that too huh? James: Who moves across the country for construction, and she even hesitated to say where she was from. Ian: You gonna do anything about it? James: No why would I? It's none of my business what she's hiding.
