Run
•Leonel's POV•
Damn it, why can't these stop?!
If you think I'm referring to the time when I was blushing, you're wrong. Not long after I held Natalie's hand and dragged her in the direction of the Lithieum Clan's mansion, hordes of Varvakeion Rogues attacked us. Don't get me wrong, we can defeat it (I mean, with a Vampire Princess by my side? And a good fighter at that? Yup!), but it was tiring, whether you're mortal or immortal, or in between.
I was currently fighting a blonde teen girl, which I thought was ridiculous. She was the cheerleader type that I saw in movies, who think they were above people in so many aspects of life that they just go and insult or bully anyone they want. How the hell did she get mixed up with vampires? Freaky.
I dodged an uppercut from the Rogue and when she stumbled, I took my chance and cut her head off, which I was glad I did (even though I sound like a killer), because she didn't manage to let out an annoyingly loud screech, which Rogues seem to have a habit in doing. Other Rogues came at us, but we simply beheaded them or kicked their heads off. By the end of it, I was drenched in vampire blood, grimacing, and I have some wounds on my chest and arms.
Once I saw Natalie, though, my expression softened. She was staring at the gates of the mansion, shaking, with a mute scream coming out from her mouth. I'd never seen her this... horrified before... and I'm pretty sure that what she saw was really horrible. Horrible enough to make the strongest person I know have that kind of reaction.
When I looked at what she was looking at, I stiffened. My whole body tensed. The hairs at the back of my neck stood, and a chill ran up my spine. My eyes widened, and my brain shut out all emotions, except shock, and horror.
Bodies were scattered everywhere. People were bleeding, I even saw some of them reaching out to hold someone... Their bones, broken, some of their fangs were ripped off..
And the worst part was...
...They had the Lithieum's signature red and white vest.
They were part of Natalie's clan.
They were her people. Her family.
And she knew that.
They're dead... and I didn't even... I couldn't even do anything to save them... This... this is all my fault...
I knew exactly what she was thinking right now. If anyone saw her face... she was... shattered. Tears were running down her pale cheeks... her eyes.. Damn, her eyes, her eyes scared me... they were a tornado of emotions. Regret, Self-pity, Anger, Hopelessness.... and Vengeance.
I subconsciously took a step back. I know that just one more push and Natalie would change. One more... only one more...
And I saw that one more when a guy cam out of the mansion, a sinister grin on his face, holding a few matchsticks.
"These vampires are too pathetic to be incinerated by a lighter..." Then he laughed. A cruel laugh, that most Varvakeion were known to do. But it didn't send so much fear into me, than the look in Natalie's eyes. She hasn't seen him yet, but her emotions were spiraling out of control, just because of staring at her people's dead bodies. She didn't seem to have even heard the cruel laugh from that guy... she was shut in her own regretful world.
