With the sky turning dark, stars shining outside, Haseena decided to go out for a stroll in her society garden.
She smiled satisfied seeing all the cute messages she had written as invitations for her baby shower.
She had decided she will manage everything on her own for a small gathering day after tomorrow.
"Haanji bhaiya kal subha Tak saare sweet boxes or phool bhijwa dena...6 baje sab humare ghar hona chahiye. Or ek dum fresh banana. Peechli din ki hui toh aap jaante hai humme"
"Haa haa madam ji. Ab aapse thodi hoshiyari karenge", the sweet owner shop replied.
Before joining IB, Haseena had served in Crime Branch and for the Women upliftment and Security unit. Many in the city of millions, knew her for her bravery and taking up those cases which risked her duty.
She had made many connections that time. And she trusted them. A major difference in Haseena and Anubhav's thinking was trust issues. Haseena belived persons she knew well. And in worst scenarios, Anubhav keeps an eye even on the close ones.
"Theek hai ab Birju? Humne kardi hai mithai wale se baat or usse tumhari duty badalne Wale time hi bulaya hai. Subha wale watchman ke aane ke baad tum Sara samaan upar rakhwa dena. Aur haan, thoda bahout late ho chale mat jana", Haseena instructed the night guard of the apartments she lives in.
Seeing the pregnant lady, the watch smiled softly and nodded in agreement. After a short walk round the garden, she relaxed herself on the cement bench under a tree. Cool breeze hitting her face calmed her ailing heart. It was never easy, the aftermath of an argument with him, even after these years of marriage and dating.
"Hota hai baby. Jitna bhi pyaar karle hum ek dusre se, humare point of view match nahi karte or jhagda ho jaata hai. Aur tumhare papa adiyal toh bahout hai", she frowned complaining her child.
For her she was just conversing with her baby but in reality she tried to reason herself of his rude behaviour. The have had many arguments, like any normal couple. But this was hurting more. She is more sensitive during these 9 months, which Anubhav knows but has no control over the situation.
"Chalo bhai, bahout ghum liya ab wapis Ghar jate hai, bahout kaam hai kal ke liye", she murmurs to herself. As prescribed by her gynae, she skips the stairs and enters the lift. Well she used to take the stairs as a part of her training routine before pregnancy, to the 10th floor.
Ding. The elevator door opened again. A sudden string of coldness hit him, as Anubhav entered only to be welcomed by her ignorance.
Her eyes met his once. Full of plead and guilt. "Haseena", he slowly whispered but she continued to look forward.
"Aap humara phone toh uthalati ek baar. Message toh kardeti Kam se kam. Kitna dar gaye the hum", he continued to say. She took a deep breath and exhaled. Her hand automatically rested on her grown up belly.
"Aap theek toh hai na?", Concerned for her, his arms wrap around her shoulder. She nudges them away humming. The elevator opens and both of them walk towards their apartment in a fast motion.
He following her.
"I am sorry Haseena. Please humari situation ko samjhiye. Hum gusse me the tab. Or Abhi koi bhi gathering safe nahi hai...", He stops in middle as he sees the hand written invitations. A smile automatically lingers on his lips seeing the cute foot steps and baby caricature she had drawn over them.
She turned to argue but her eyes softened at the sight of him looking at the notes with a smile.
She picked up the one she made for him. "Jitna time aap apne 'case' se nikal ke apni family ko de sake. Utne time hi ajyaiyega". Her bitter smile and words feels like a stab in his already ailing heart. All day long and no word from her was hurting him.
"Aap apni jagha sahi ho sakte hai Anubhav. Lekin kab hum aise cases ya mission me deal nahi karte jaha khatra na ho? Bataiye humari is 4 saal ke niqah me hum kitna saath reh paye hai?! Hum dono ne apna childhood miss kiya, parents kya hota woh hum nahi jante...
Aap humesha hi future ke baare me sochte hai.", she pauses to look at his expressions. "Jab tak sirf hum the humme koi problem nahi thi. Hum adjust karte the, aapke possesive behaviour se", she stops as she sees his eyes pooling with tears. Her heart feels a pain to talk to him like this but it was necessary.
"Hum apne baby ki life ka or uske bachpan ka khuch bhi miss nahi karna chahte is wajah se. Aapko humari safety ki fiqr hai isliye hum kisi kaam karne wale ko nahi bulane wale. Sab khud manage kar lenge. Jo humare guests hai, woh humare life se already jude hue hai. I trust them."After taking a glance at him she turns towards their room saying," khaana rakha hai. Please kha lijyega, gussa bhool kar".
Tears silently made way through his eyes. He sat their dejected and lost.
Sahi toh keh rahi hai Haseena. 4 saal pehle jab achanak se AX phir se humare saamne ek anjaan khatre ki tarha saamne khada ho gaya tha tab humne unko training dete hue kitni peeda pahuchayi, lekin unhone humse khuch nahi kaha.
Aaj phir hum dono wahi hai or is baar humare saath humara bacha bhi hai. Kaise hum ye expect karle ki woh humme samjhe jab ki woh khuch nahi jaanti. Kya humme bata dena chahiye unhe? Unko stress se door kaha hi rakh pa rahe? Woh khush nahi hai.
Nahi...parso agar sab sahi se jata hai toh sab theek ho jayega toh hum unhe mana lenge.
Abhi ke liye jab tak sunwayi ki tareekh nahi aati hum us insaan ko dhoondhne ki kosish karte hai, Haseena ko apana pura samay dete hue...warna hum mujhboor honge, kanoon ki hifazat me vifal hone ke liye...
He feels very anxious at the moment. All this was taking a toll on his health too.
He lowers his head on the table which was throbbing in pain.Haseena peeps from her room door wether he is eating or not. She sighed seeing him and quickly made his way to the kitchen to grab a plate for him.
She wants be to very angry at him but can't be seeing him like. With a smile she ruffles his hairs.
"Khaana kha lijye please"
He gently pushes the plate away, says nothing but lies in her lap.
