"Dekh Anubhav dyaan rakhna, bilkul bhi gussa nahi", Sharad said pulling him into a hug. He drove Anubhav home after their planning and some investigation in the IB office.
Anubhav nodded and hugged him for a longer time. Sharad saw him retreating but a unknown anxiety erupted in his stomach, the fear of something very wrong happening. The intuition of his agent mind. He shook his head praying for the best and started to drive toward's Siddhi's home. Maybe, staying with her could give some peace to him.
Anubhav's hand shivered opening the door of the room. What is her state now? Is all that he wondered...not having any more energy to fight with her allegations and anger.
To his suprise she was all calm. Not talking but neither cold. Her emotional need for him was at peak and he understood that. "Theek hai na ye...umm shayad namak thoda kam hai", he said biting into the home made croutons for her tomato soup. It was he deliberately avoided the salt. It was a nervous on his part, he never felt like that he had to use such a excuse to start a conversation with her.
"Hmm", she bitterly smiled. He would never change. The same when she got to know him the first time. A hardnut for everyone other than the ones he loved...he could do any silly thing for them too. Her mind wandered to Mahira. He grew a bond with her in just 2 meets. She felt insecure and vulnerable everytime on this topic after her pregnancy. Hundred percent blame on the hormones.
"Bangaya", he said after sprinkling oregano over the soup. It was her favourite and one in the comfortist.
She gasped being stuck between him and the cold granite kitchen slab. If it had been a normal day, he would have slyly smiled to her teasing her with his wrong intentions.
He smiled to himself and placed a peck on her hairs carefully holding her and making her sit on the kitchen top. He poured the soup into a large bowl, dipped the crispy bread and turned to her. Blowing over the tangy liquid he neared it to her. She frowned and pointed the crispy biting. Anubhav shook his head and took a piece of crouton too redipping the big spoon into it. She held the back of his palm, her eyes watering as she began to eat.
"I am sorry", he whispers in her ear taking her in a hug. "I am sorry too", she sniffed in his cologne rubbing her eyes over his t-shirt. "Hum..ara baby safe hai na Anu?...k..khuch bura...toh nahi..hoga na?" This was all he heard between her sobs. The reason he hid all of this was the fear...the one he currently witnessed in her, the eyes...that were brave enough to rip apart a criminal was shivering in front of him.
"I promise Haseena. You both will be safe"
"No...", she cied out. "You should be safe too", she slipped his hand downwards on her belly. "Promise Karo Anaya ya Harsh ko", the sweet names they had decided for their kid.He cheered her up placing a kiss on her belly. "Soup thanda ho raha hai Mumma", he said in a baby like voice.
" I love you ".
"Love you too Gudda"
The night was too hard to pass for them.
He could see only the dark clouds ahead.
But she had a hope they will fight with everything.
Next morning was a tensed one for them as she could hear him yelling at his juniors. What she has seen in this case that a distance has been formed between them and her friend Jennifer. She had relived her horror of relationship seeing Anubhav taking up decisions single handedly without consulting her.
She patted on his backing cooling down the head of the angry father passing him a plate of cut fruits.
"Rukiye hum dekhte hai...Tara hogi"
"Hum bhi chalte hai Haseena", he kissed her cheek. "Dhyaan rakhiyega...or haa calls uthana humare", he said stressing on his last words.
"Screw them", he murmured again with a ring on his phone. She shook his head hearing his curses. Tara entered with a bag in her head. She smirked as Anubhav left turning back and securing the lock.
"Tara aaj safayi baadme karna please humare liye breakfast bana dena"
"Ji madam" Haseena failed to notice the negativity in her speech. She kept her bag and lowered her self searching for her gun she hid yesterday. Her hands were quick enough to serve Haseena a sedative laid breakfast.
She was happy talking and sorting things with him. Her long call with Sharad also convinced her heart that his husband safe.
But it all turned upside down.
The last her blurring vision saw was Tara putting on her phone to record.
"You made my life hell Anubhav Singh. And now it's your turn", she smirked. Tara held onto Haseena's unconscious body and tied her up with thick ropes, enough to give her a sting once she wakes up."How's your day going Anubhav?" She clicked up her video recording button and showed Haseena's condition. "You have two ours to decide...who you want? Yourself or the two lives in front of you?"
"And remember I am not afraid to die", she disclosed her identity in the last. She send it to him, IB and timed it to upload on media after an hour. She sealed their home, installed up a camera and threw her phone away.
"Hello Anubhav", she answered when Anubhav called up on Haseena's.
"You...", He growled from the other end.
"Hurts? 2 saal se is anjaan desh me mujhe bhi utni hi takleef Hui, jab humare desh ne hume escort nahi kiya. Only because of you fucker. You killed my husband. And my child...And now it's the karma playing"
"Kya chahiye tumhe Tara?"
"You. Dead. In front of me."
Before he could speak further, he heard the beep.
Earth slipped under his feet. Sharad immediately called up for the local station, STF taking control immediately, followed by a few IB commandos as his senses gave up.
"Anubhav"
"She is Hostaged...", He could barely murmur as tears fill up her eyes. His body and mind felt numb. I can never fulfill my promises. Even after so much I could not keep them safe.
Agar unhe khuch ho gaya toh hum kabhi apne aap ko maaf nahi kar payege. Why are you taking my test again? I can't...I simply can't.
His dream of his happy home, the feeling of having the child in his arms seemed breaking.
Because he was fighting with someone who did not fear dying.
