Chapter 8

Joe P.O.V

She burst out crying and then all of sudden there was a long beeping sound. I couldn't stay there anymore I ran in and I just froze until doctors and nurses came rushing into her room telling us we had to leave. I didn't want to leave her. I...I...I loved her.

I was sat with Zoë outside of her room luckily there were seats right outside of her room, so we could sit there. I couldn't bring myself to talk to anyone I just sat there staring at the floor below me just wishing that it would swallow me up.

Zoë's P.O.V

I was sat with Joe outside Emma's room, I had phoned Alfie, as he was her best friend, even if I'd had a small argument I still loved him, and he was on his way. I looked over at my brother he didn't seem like himself, I guess he really liked her I haven't seen him like this since Lilly left him. He never talked for months and when he did it was only a simple word like hi or yes.
I was trying to get something out of him but I couldn't, it seemed like he wasn't there. The door swung open and doctors came out without giving us a glance then at the back was a bed with Emma on. A doctor came after her and said,
"Can you please come with me."
I carefully shook Joe's shoulder and told him we have to go and speak to the doctor. I quickly text Alfie:

Z: If we aren't where I told you just wait there because we will probably be with the doctor xxx

It didn't take very long for him to text back.

A: I'm here now. Thank you for talking to me, will tell you the whole story when we get home, by the way I love you xxx <3

I waited a few seconds for Alfie as the doctor wanted to talk to us urgently then I saw him so I quickly dragged him with me.
"Where are we going?"
"Come on Alf, just hurry up, you'll find out."
"Ok."

We got took to the family room and we sat down I sat down next to Joe and held his hand as it looked like he needed it and Alfie sat next to me holding mine, fingers intertwined, I was still mad at him but I needed someone with me, I know I have Joe but he isn't a very good person to talk to right now. Then the doctor started.

D: "Are you aware of Miss Deviners' condition at the moment?"
I shook my head.
D: "Well we had to take her down to Theatres as she has a minimum amount of bleeding in her brain."
Z: "Will she be ok after the operation?"
D: "She fell into a coma, but if she awakens from it and if the operation works she should be perfectly fine."
Then the first words in about 2 hours fell from Joe's mouth.
J: "What do you mean if she wakes up?"
D: "We are not 100% certain that she will awaken from her coma but we are 90% certain that this operation will work so that means that if she wakes up she will be fine. Sorry but we have no other news, but you are welcome to stay in here until I come back."
Z:"Thank you doctor''

We all stayed silent replaying the words in our heads, I had to get out of this room I could feel myself becoming anxious so I quickly asked if anyone wanted a drink, obviously Joe didn't say anything, and Alfie said he wanted to come with me but I needed someone with Joe to make sure he was alright. I went for a walk around the hospital gardens before I went back, I had calmed down a lot.

Alfie's P.O.V
I was sat with Joe when I heard someone crying, I looked over to see Joe, and he had broken down into floods of tears. I comforted him and then the door opened, I thought it was Zoë but it wasn't. I couldn't believe it, how was she here?

It's a cliffhanger
