*PRESENT TIME*

I sighed as my cousin held up a short pink dress. "Casey. There's no way i'm wearing that." I waved my hand around, wanting her to put away the hideous dress she pulled out of her wardrobe. "Kenzie it's your first day, you need to make a sexy impression!" Casey Becker exclaimed, rummaging in her large oak wardrobe. I shook my head, this girl never listens. "I don't care if i look 'sexy' or not. I just need to borrow a few jumpers." I moaned, getting up to look in her wardrobe, myself. She squealed and pulled out a disgusting orange jumper. "What about this?" she held it up against me. My face fell as i saw myself in the mirror. She noticed my expression and put it away. "You have a look, i clearly don't know what you like" she stated sounding slightly annoyed and sat on her bed watching me. Within in seconds i pulled out a brown jumper, black skirt and a pair of tights. It would have to do. I thanked her and headed to my room to get ready. Today was my first day at Woodsboro High after moving in with my aunt and uncle. I was nervous despite already being to a few high schools in the past. Being the new girl would always haunt me. I pulled on my outfit, not really bothered about whether it suited me or not, grabbed my school bag and rushed downstairs.

"Morning Mackenzie love, excited for your first day?" Auntie Sandra greeted me with a slice of toast and scrambled eggs.

nope.

"Yeah, it will be nice to finally settle into a new school." I lied upfront. Sandra grinned a warm smile and put Casey's breakfast opposite mine. "Come on Casey love, you're going to be late" She called up the stairs to Casey, who was sat in her room messing with her earrings. I ate my breakfast in silence until there was a thunder of feet running down the stairs. "Morning mum, Kenzie we've got to go!" Casey flew into the room and towards her large breakfast and grabbed a slice of toast and egg off her plate. I stood up and thanked Sandra for the lovely breakfast and put my plate in the sink. I'd never seen anyone so excited and eager to get to school before. Casey grabbed my hand pulling me towards the front door of the house, not allowing me just to grab my coat for the mild autumn weather. "So, you've got English first with me, so you'll be fine. I can introduce you to some of my friends they are really nice and-" She rattled on happily. We crossed a small road opposite the house and headed towards the town centre, where the school was. "Case, I don't think I'll get on with your friends" I mumbled. I really didn't need any friends. I all i wanted was to come out of school with no boyfriend no girlfriend but damn good grades and maybe one loyal best friend. That's all i needed right now. Casey shrugged her shoulders "Alright if you say so."

Once we got to the steps, we were both met by Casey's boyfriend Steve. I didn't like him and thought that Casey could do better. Alot better. I had missed the time when she dated a guy named Stu Macher. They were the cutest couple and I ended up being best friends with him. Until of course, she broke up with him and I thought it would be wrong to keep meeting up with him. As my mind trailed away in thought, i wondered whether or not I'd see him here, or if he even went here. "I'll see you later then, Kenzie?" Casey asked, linking arms with grim Steve. I nodded silently and gave Steve an evil glare.

I walked into the school, pushing and shoving people out the way as i went. Mainly boys, thinking they have full right of way. Dicks, i thought to myself. I wondered down a long corridor in the centre of the school and stopped by what should be my locker. I glared at it Mackenzie Becker. Well at least I didn't have my mum's last name anymore, as the Becker's were now my legal guardians. I hadn't seen my mum since the incident last year. Neither had i thought or full processed it. However now was not the time, i had a day in hell and i just wanted to survive it. I swung open my locker door and through in a few textbooks. As i went to slam it shut, i felt someone catch the side of the metal door. I glared up at them, thinking them to be some jerk fooling around with the 'new girl'.

"Mackenzie Starr. Long-time no see, sweetheart." Instead, I looked up to see an old best friend peering down at me. He had a large goofy grin on his face and had cut his blonde hair shorter from the las time I saw him. "Stu Macher. I was wondering if i would bump into your goofy ass here." I exclaimed smiling happily up to him. He was wearing that cute beige jumper i helped Casey find years back for his birthday. "How come you're here? Did you move?" He asked poking his head over the door. I closed it shut and looked at the time. "Yeah, I'm living with Case now." I explained, my voice trailing off as i noticed two girls wandering over to him. The smaller blonde girl pulled round to face her. "Sydney wants to know if we are all meeting by the fountain for lunch" She asked, not realising i was in a middle of a conversation with him. "Well yeah, we meet there every lunch" He turnt to the other girl who I assumed was called Sydney. She was really pretty, she had shoulder length brown hair and a fringe that floated over her hazel eyes. She noticed me by Stu and smiled. "Not every lunch. Sometimes you meet somewhere else and then i spend my lunch trying to find you all, but only finding Randy." She moaned. Stu smirked to himself "I wonder why" he mumbled amusingly to himself. "Ladies this is Kenzie. We used to be best friends." He introduced me waving his arms around as if to say, 'ta da!' "Hi" I laughed watching him make a fool of himself. Sydney held out her hand "I'm Sydney" she smiled again. She had a lovely smile, i thought. The blonde girl waved "Tatum. So how do you know Stu? He's not one for having many best friends. In fact, his only best friend i can think of is Billy..." she wondered. I couldn't help but think that Tatum thought i was one of Stu's exes. Hence, he did have a history of dating blondes. "I'm Casey Becker's cousin. We met through her." I explained vaguely. Stu gave me a worrying look. "That was years back now anyway" I added, and Stu's face relaxed back to his normal goofy expression. "Oh cool. You can hang out with us if you'd like since it's your first day." Tatum announced loudly to literally everyone around us. "I've got English first. Do you know where that is?" I asked, glad that I had a few people around me to help me out. "Yeah, i have it. Just come with me, you'll be in the same class as me I bet" Sydney replied and led me to my first lesson. I sighed with relief. Despite not wanting many friends, I was relieved Stu picked me up and practically gave me friends.
