First day of school was over. I thought it had gone suprisingly well, thanks to Stu practically adopting me for the day and his friends being so sweet. They spoke of Sydney's boyfriend often. A guy named Billy, he sounded like a mysterious character. I mean i didn't get to meet him but that's what i assumed him to be like.

I came home from school an hour late, Stu walking me half way still being the gentleman i remembered from old times. "You never change Stu" I had told him, breathing heavily after breaking down laughing. He grinned down out me, he was so tall "Well youre still the same music obsessed, caffine motivated girl i knew years back" He said back to me in reply. I smiled lightly at him and walked up to my house. Spinning around one i got to the front door i said " You dont need to watch me" I laughed noticing him sat on his bike, waiting for me to opening the door and go inside. "You never know sweetheart, there might be a murderer lurking around somewhere" He said in a fake spooky voice, pulling a stupid face. I rolled my eyes and waved him off, opening the door and walking inside.

"Hey Kenz, your home later than i thought?" Casey pointed out, running down the stairs wearing her favourite fluffy socks and holding a bag of pop corn. I waved her away, not being asked to explain how i spent the day with her ex boyfriend. Casey rolled her eyes in reply and went into the kitchen. "So good day then? Got a boyfriend yet?" She asked, smirking when she saw my annoyed face. "Yes i've had an alright day and Case how many times- i dont want or need a boyfriend!" I moaned opening the fridge and pulling out a full fat cherry coke. I decided to not mention the fact that i had ran into Stu and his new girlfriend. Casey smirked, pulling out a tin foil packet out of the bag of popcorn. "What if it's Johnny Depp?" She winked, throwing the packet onto the frying pan. I winked back at her, playfully "Well then, maybe there's a slight excuse for him". She laughed and turned on the heat on the oven. "Speaking of your little crush, Johnny... want to watch Nightmare on Elm Street?" she went to her large tote bag she had flung on the kitchen when she came home after school and pulled out a VHS tape. I squealed and rushed over to grab it. She laughed handing me the Nightmare on Elm Street VHS "Your mad, Kenz. Go and set it up while i finsh the pop corn". I nodded and dramatically ran to the living room, skidding on the red rug in the hallway as i did so.

As i fiddled around with the aerial cables on the televison, i heard the phone ring and Casey pick it up. Probably Steve, i thought. He was always ringing her, every night of every day. Once i manged to set the film up i wandered back into the kitchen. "Who was that?" I asked as she put the phone back onto the headset. She shrugged "Dunno, some guy who got the wrong number." She stated dully and poked the popcorn on the pan. It crackled loudly and the phone rung again. Casey glanced at me confused and picked it up. "Hello?" She asked through the phone line. 'Im sorry i guess i dialed the wrong number' the phone answered back. "So why'd you dial it again?" ' To apologise' "Your forgiven. Bye now-" She goes to put the phone down but pauses. 'wait wait don't go. I want to talk to you'. I extended my arm out, wanting to talk to the persistant caller, but she shook her head. I make a pouty face and look away annoyed. "Theres 900 numbers for you to do that, see ya" She slammed the phone down, hanging up on them. I huffed "You should have given me the phone". Casey laughed walking to the fridge and getting a bag of chocolates out and replied "Would be one way for you to get a boyfriend. Some werid guy over the phone." I playfully hit her and poured my now luke -warm cherry coke into a pint glass with ice sat in the bottom.

The phone rings again, causing Casey to curse under her breath. I raced her over to the phone and stood intently beside her, waiting to hear what the caller was going to say. "Um hello?" She whispers into the phone. 'Why don't you want to talk to me?' "Who is this?" 'You tell me your name. I'll tell you mine.' She laughs a little. "I don't think so" I look at her. "Tell him mine instead!" I exclaimed. She furrows her eyebrows and shakes her head. I hear the person on the end of the line chuckle. I rolled my eyes at Casey and shake the popcorn in the packet, making sure it cooked evenly over. 'What's that noise?' "Pop corn!" She exclaims. 'You're making pop corn?' "Uh huh" She replies boredly. 'I only have pop corn at the movies' I make a funny face at the phone. "Only at the movies?" I mumbled, surprised. "Well im getting ready to watch a video with my cousin" Casey says looking over at me. 'Really?' "Yep" 'Can i talk to her?'. My blue eyes widen, how do they know I'm a girl? I quickly swipe the phone out of Casey's hand and put it to my ear. "Evening darling." I laughed down the line at the stranger. Casey giggled and rolled her eyes in amusement. 'Hello there beautiful' "You going to tell me who you are?" I asked. 'You tell me' I shrugged, leaning over the kitchen island. "I don't know. I hardly know anyone." i reply. 'How come?' " Don't like people that much and i don't have any friends." 'Aww well can you be my friend?' "Sure thing phone weirdo" We both chuckle, making Casey roll her eyes for the hundreth time of the evening. 'So what video you going to watch?' "A scary movie!" I exclaim excitedly. 'You like scary movies?' I nodded, despite them not being able to see me. "Yeah!" 'What's your favourite scary movie?' I think for a minute. "Mmm Halloween!" I glance at Casey who puts her thumbs up in agreement. "You know the one with the guy who walks around wearing a white mask, stalking babysitters?" 'Yeah' I bite my lip slightly. "What's yours?" 'Guess' I thought for a minutes then exclaimed "Nightmare on elm street?" 'Is that the one where the guy had knives for fingers?' "Yeah Freddy Kruger!" 'Yeah Freddy that's right! I liked that movie it was scary' "Yeah" I agreed, not sure what else to say. 'So you got a boyfriend?' I huffed. "No." 'What about a girlfriend?' "Nope." 'You wanna go out some time?' My eyes go wide for a second and i pulled my jumper further over my hands. "Really?" I giggled, my cheeks flushing pink. 'Sure why not? You sound like a beautiful girl with good taste. '" Sure. Where do you-" i started but was cut off by Casey grabbing the phone. "You don't know him you idiot! He's probably a pedo!" She exclaimed to me. I sigh sadly and began picking at my nails. I thought she wanted me to find a boyfriend. "Sorry we have to go" She says abruptly into the phone. 'Hey hang on i was trying to ask your cousin out' "She doesn't like you and has a boyfriend." She sneers. I raise my arms in annoyance. No i don't! 'You never told me her name' "Why'd you want to know her name?" Casey moans growing annoyed with the caller. "It's Mackenzie!" I yelled across the room. She put her finger to her lips to silence me. "Why?" She repeats.

'Because i want to know who im looking at'
