I picked up my coat from the back of my chair and put it on as I walked outside.
I put my hood on and made sure to close the door back behind me,as I stared up into the rain with my head held back.Feeling better as the water mixed with slight cold hit my light brown skin. I looked to see what was going on as I heard a loud and painful noise coming from my right, where we keep the dumpsters.
A dark figure ran past me and into the street nearly causing a biker to crash into a green pick up truck. I couldn't see the persons face since they were covered in all black and ran way too fast for me to catch up to them in this rain.
As I looked back towards the dumpsters I noticed some papers on the ground that weren't there before and I decided to walk over to get a closer look.
I picked them all up and went back into the café where I sat them on a table and took off my coat.
Aaron was busy talking to Mrs Johnson which I was ecstatic about and sat down myself at the table where I began to look for clues as to who that person was.
Mrs Johnson came over to my table with some hot chocolate and a freshly made banana nut muffin. "Here you go dear,I am so sorry Cassidy. If there's anything I can do please let me know" she said.
I gave her a confused look and her eyes widened,as if she said something terrible.
"Oh..I see. Aaron come here please" She said. And he walked over to my table. I say the papers back onto the table and looked at him seriously. "What's going on?" I asked.
He looked sad for a moment and then he sat down right across from me. He reached out for my hand and I pulled back, frustrated and just ready to hear what was going on.
"Cas..my family lost the house. Which means we had to get a loan to get a new place and everything that we worked so hard for didn't work out and was all for nothing" he said.
I felt sad for them and I immediately wanted to call my parents to see what we could do to help them. "Oh I'm so sorry. But I don't understand, why did Mrs Johnson say sorry to me?" I said.
"Because my grandfather left some things for us in his boxes when he left for florida but we didn't go through them until he came back. They had all of his plans to move onto a new land and start fresh but we didn't know until last week" Aaron said.
"Okay but still...what does that have to do with-"
"The new land my grandfather now owns is the land your house is built on" He said.
I stared at him for what felt like forever, then I turned to Mrs Johnson and back at Aaron. "How is this possible? Why is he doing this?" I asked, trying not to let the tears fall.
"I really don't know. I don't know how it happened or why he wants to do it but he's not stopping. He's supposed to be coming back here by tonight and make it final by tomorrow" Aaron said.
"One thing at a time. So there's no way possible that we can keep our land? Your family has always been more than welcome to come live with us and you all know this" I said.
"Yes we know but he doesn't care. You know how my grandfather is,he wants what he wants and doesn't care who he has to hurt to get it" he said. And I felt like screaming and crying all at the same time.
Just then the bell rang and as I looked up,I passed out.
