The Last Stand

~Chapter 5~

I left the work station and headed to Monty's greenroom. I opened his door and saw Monty smashing everything.

"M-MONTY!" I gasped. He was wrecking his greenroom!! People paid for all those details that he's destroying.

"AH! Y/N! What are ye doing here??? LEAVE!" Monty growled.

"M-Monty...I want to help. Stop destroying everything and talk to me!" I yelped.

"HELP?? I don't NEED help! I need you to fucking leave me alone!"

I was surprised by Monty's language. HE'S A CHILD MASCOT!!

"Monty...that's not how you talk to a new security guard!!"

"Security...guard...? What do ye mean?? You couldn't possibly be a guard..."

"Then how am I here after hours? How am I wearing a uniform?" I asked him.

"Ah...I dunno...snuck and stole a uniform?"

"EXCUSE ME?? DID YOU EXCUSE ME OF STEALING??"

"Uh..."

"Listen, if you don't want me to help you, then I'mma just leave. Okay? I still have Sun to check on!" I yelled.

I was about to leave until Monty grabbed onto my arm.

"Wait. Don't leave. There IS something wrong..."

"What is it?" I asked.

"There's an issue with my circuits..."

I raised an eyebrow as I opened Monty's back hatch. My mouth gaped open. There was something that was NOT supposed to be there. There was a deep purple chip inside his wiring.

"Um...what's this?" I asked.

What's what?? What is it?"

"This chip..." I took the chip out, and once I did, Monty collapsed on the floor. The chip then zapped me and I dropped it in shock. "Ah!"

I looked at Monty's limp body. Did I break him...? Was that chip important? I picked the chip off of the floor and inspected it. It was just a normal deep purple chip. What could be important about it?

I looked back at Monty's body and crouched down. I opened his back hatch and inspected if anything else was wrong. Nothing else. In doubt I placed the chip back in Monty's back. Maybe it WAS important....

After I placed it in Monty's back and closed his hatch, he turned on.

"Argh...what happened?" He asked as he looked at me.

"Once I took out the chip...you passed out."

"I...did?! That makes no sense! How...?!" Monty yelled.

"I don't know!" I yelped. "We'll figure this out later."

I then left Monty's room and went to the Daycare. I've had enough weirdness today.

I headed to the Daycare and slid down the slide. Since there's no more children, I can ACTUALLY talk to Sun for once!

Sun jumped into the ballpit and I walked up to him.

"Hi-"

"NEW FRIEND!! YOU'RE SURE UP LATE!! ARE WE HAVING A SLUMBER PARTY??? WHERE ARE ALL YOUR FRIENDS??" Sun asked me.

"S-Sun! I'm the new security guard! I'm making sure you're okay and spiffy for tomorrow!" I yelped as Sun put me down.

"NEW...SECURITY GUARD? WHY WOULD WE NEED ANY OF THOSE?? WE ALREADY HAVE THE BLONDE ONE!"

"You mean Vanessa?" I wondered.

"HER NAMES VANESSA? I NEVER KNEW!"

"None of you knew! Which seems odd...since you guys always listen to her!"

"YEAH...BUT WE'RE USED TO IT...ANYWAYS...I CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO KNOW YOU MORE!! WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS!!"

"Why only the 'next couple'?"

"BECAUSE! THEY WILL BE SCRAPPING ME!"

"W-WHAT??"

"YEAH...KINDA SAD! THEY SAID I WAS 'TOO SCARY' FOR THE CHILDREN! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!"

"No...I can't...I'll miss you Sunny..."

"S-SUNNY?!"

"Yes! Your new nickname! Do you...like it?" I asked, sounding unsure.

"LIKE IT? I LOVE IT!" Sun exclaimed.

"I'm glad!" I said. "Anything wrong? Like with your circuits? Or-"

"NOPE! I'M FINE!"

"Really? You didn't seem fine back there. With the children."

"AH...I WAS 'FINE'! TRUST ME!!"

"Okay...if you say so. If that's the case, I must be going then. I have other things to do."

"OKAY...BYEEE!!!" Sun waved as I left.

I looked at my list. Next was...clean every vent...that sounded "fun" and...boring.
